The nice thing about the pedal commander is the ability to adjust the sensitivity. but that's probably it.
You brought up a good point about it being slick though.
I could tame it down a bit in the winter.
I try to keep it snappy but not touchy or jumpy.

The biggest issue is the automatics have a dead spot at the bottom.. you either have it or it’s twitchy, there’s really no in between (or no ones been able to figure it it out as far as I know)

Yeah you can do that with a pedal commander. Basically all it’s doing is taking your input and adding or subtracting a percentage from it. If you combine it with a tune it can get funky depending on how they did the throttle ramp

I believe the new tundra adjusts the throttle response based on drive mode. Having something less responsive is nice when off road.

Oh there will be some mods all right
Honestly in a perfect world if I could create a perfect tune, it would be a tune that has acceptable throttle response, avoids gear hunting, and prioritizes fuel economy (except when 90% or more throttle is applied then it gives you everything) and then having an ECT button that turns it into a vehicle that wants to murder me. A true sport mode where the RPMs never drop below 3000 and the throttle response is sharp as hell and every ounce of power is squeezed out of it. One can dream lol

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
I believe you're correct, I seem to remember reading that the 3rd gen has that built in but it can be tuned out.

The hard part about making a perfect tune is everyone has a different definition of perfect lol

I've enjoyed my tune that @Shellshock installed, one of the OV series (I forget which one). It is a little jerky at low speeds, but I'm used to it.

It does make me appreciate the throttle cable on the 80, though. Instant feedback and easier to control at low speeds.

Yeah, I haven’t noticed any issues with throttle response or gear hunting.

Says the guys who don't drive 3rd gens. lol j/k.
For my purposes the throttle response was the main issue. Gear hunting isn't an issue that ECT can't cure...for my purposes.
A dead spot at 90mph isn't a real concern either. lol

I guess I am getting old... the only time I need to go 90 is when I'm chasing @Supr4Lo. He ran off to AZ so I no longer have that need. @LarryDangerfield, you just need 35's! Have you seen my truck? Solves everything! Flatbeds help too...

Did a KDMAX tune in August and have been very pleased with the results. Had the camper on and drove that way for a couple of months, it was a huge improvement. Without the camper the 3rd gen driveability issues are not completely resolved but night/day improvement YMMV.

    Do tell,
I'm sure they make for good campfire stories.

For some getting up the ladder into their RTT made for a good story.

Ya, @Supr4Lo does like to lead.
You 2 guys did get about 15 minutes ahead of that morning driving through the Rockies.

I don’t usually go that fast but when I was out east, everyone was doing 80+ across the Carolina’s. Was no biggie in the tundra. I also *gasp* have a front and rear sway bar which I think makes a big difference.
