In this video, Sheldon states that the manual SR will get a detuned engine. Around the 5 minutes mark.

We’ve had ours for almost 100K miles and have no complaints about the transmission, nose dive or body roll. I think it drives pretty nice for the body on frame truck that it is.

True. A ton of moms around here have Tellurides now. The model that comes with the all terrain tires and blacked out badges actually looks pretty nice.

Your probably right, but I think he said extracab so maybe not for the double cab? Maybe still some hope left.

KDSS probably makes a big difference, I rode in a coworkers Limited and didn't notice it much compared to the SR5. There is also a huge difference in the 2nd row seats for models without the 3rd row, so much more cushioning and better ergonomics.

I put a few thousand miles on my parents 2016 SR5 and it just tipped a lot more than I like, I think I just prefer a longer wheelbase vehicle.
That thing was awesome though, they put over 206,000 miles on it with just fluid changes and it never felt any different at the high miles than it did new. Not a funny noise, rattle, anything.

Ya after realizing that the pro is going to be around 60k I think a base SR double cab, 6 speed, with hopefully coils and full tune is my top choice now.

Ours is an off-road so it may have stiffer suspension.

My local dealer has a sport coming in, these are the numbers. If the interest rates stay this high I don't think it will take to long to start seeing discounts.

Yeah the current rates would keep me from buying anything more than a basic Camry really.

$15K of interest payments on a truck? No thanks.

Those are popular here too, but all the young moms and girls eat the 4 runners up. Our upper middle class neighborhood is filled with new 2500's and Tahoes, the south sure likes its GM products for some reason.

Caveat: Toyota is going to build 2 pros without the shock seats in 2024.

For 2023 carfigures.com puts 2023 Tacoma sales @ 215,293 units. So for 2024 we can expect 214,000 lifestyle trucks and, maybe, 1,293 SR5’s units for team ‘I want a basic truck’. @benzy is probably right, maybe 2 Pro’s won’t have the springy seat.

Tacoma has been a lifestyle truck for a long time, since the end of the 5-lug in 2015. And same for the 4Runner. The new 250 Series LC will be a lifestyle truck too. I like that the LC is pivoting away from the $90K almost lux market.

Additional edit - If you really need a ‘TRUCK’ buy a ‘TRUCK’. 3/4 gasser, 4WD, custom order your trim, bed size cab config from your local domestic manufacturer and likely get it for less than MSRP. They will work better for every ‘Truck’ category than any version of 1G/2G/3G/4G tacoma anyway.

Now, carry on with our lifestyle truck discussion.

Hard decision here. Like the pro except for the iso seats and black roof and glossy fenders. Like the trailhunter except for the high air intake and all the heavy armor.

All I can say is, I’m super thankful I got my 2022 trd off-road dcsb 4x4 when I did! Looking at all these 2024 pro and trail hunter model videos on YouTube, I can already tell they’re going to be priced above $60k at least. The world has gone absolutely insane!

Same here pretty much, except they all drive the big bro-dozer F250’s lifted 6 inches on those low profile mud tires stretched over 24” rims. Toyota is still the working man’s truck for the most part. With these new price changes that may change.

The women are driving the Mercedes, Audi, BMW etc.

Back to the new Tacoma. I had initially planned to hold out for a TRDPro. But seeing the TRDOR with premium package could be the ticket. I mean it’s a whole lot of good stuff right off the lot other than the tires.

I live in the tropical south so the street tires will have to go immediately and I might as well just get new wheels with the wider offset to get the stance like the Pro. That is an added expense but paying cash after the sell saves on the crazy interest hike.

I’m going to have to drive them all before I can make a decision to be honest. I’m not in a rush and hopefully you guys won’t be snatching them all up as they roll off the delivery trucks lol

facts. Its extremely rare I see a man driving a 4runner around here. The 4runner has taken the Grand Cherokee's place, serving as the I want a Jeep/Offroad thing, but not really a Jeep/offroad thing, for many many women. I think the rugged, overside hatchback style goes a long way for people who dream of Tahoes and Escalades but don't actually want something that big.

I love how much time this forum spends judging negatively the personal decisions of others. We all need the truck we have and made a good choice for ourselves but everyone else is a stupid soccer mom poseur buying a lifestyle vehicle. What a bunch of tired curmudgeonly BS
