Are these 16s or 17s?

love the look. You are rocking the 17s right? Is that an off road?

 

Yep mine is an off road with the 4 runner trd pro style wheels which are 17" no lift. Perfect offset in my opinion.

 

I am leaning towards going with the setup you have with the Pro rim and the 17's. Do you have any rubbing with this? I've got the factory mud flaps on mine, same Off Road trim.

I'm debating whether to stick with the 16's and do the pro rim or go with the 17. Don't really know what I want to do with that yet. If you have any opinions on that, it would be much appreciated.

Tire size would probably be either a 265/75/16 or 265/70/17.

Mine is totally stock, no mud flaps, no rubbing. You will rub with either one of those with the factory mud flaps but it should be very minor from what I hear. I went back and forth for over a year but ultimately I wanted the 4 runner pro rims. Yes it's been done a TON but I'm not trying to make my truck look different, I'm trying to make it like I want it. Those tacoma trd pro rims look amazing also and that or the trail edition wheels are my other choices. They do offer those in 17" rims from factory style wheels.

 

What website did you use to order the 4 Runner pro rims? I'm leaning now towards the 17s. I hear that 16s offer a better ride on the highway/bumps/etc. due to more sidewall and tire and are better off road. Any feel on those?

I meant to say oestylewheels.com. that's who I used. They were a great price and fast free shipping. Yeah for sure, I think the extra sidewall would definitely help. But I think 16vs 17 you'd be hard pressed to tell a difference. With these atw3's it rides amazing. I got mine with 41k and still the factory goodyears so it's hard to compare to anything but that but these ride incredible. Quieter than the factory tires, super smooth, balanced well, but I haven't had a chance to test them off road yet. I have about 2k-2500 miles on them on pavement/ gravel. I don't notice any difference in stiffness or anything over the factory trd OR rims/ tires.
With your white OR either one of those would look incredible.
Also if it helps I went with the sl. I'm not doing any serious off roading so I didn't need any extra sidewall and wanted to keep the weight down for gas mileage. No serious mpg loss with these 265 70r17's. I think it's honestly the same mpg. I have the OTT tune and trd air filter 6spd manual. I've hauled 4-5 trees off with these tires with no issues. They are rated to hold more than the factory goodyears anyway but no issues with the sidewall. Sorry for the information vomit but I spent dozens of hours looking for info before I pulled the trigger so I wanted all the info I could get.

 

Oh hey twinsies! I've got the same Cav Blue with 4R pro wheels and getting new Falken's on tomorrow. I'll say I def think they're the best looking OEM wheels available. Fair warning, I think the newer 4R wheels might have fitment issues (I think I recall a thread about it at some point), I got part number

You're correct, but it's the other 4 runner pro wheels that had issues(pic attatched It's because our tacomas have drums in the rear so the inner lip won't fully seat and caused the wheel not to sit flush with the hub. People have ground them down on factory rims or the aftermarket ones don't have that issue.

 

I have them on my truck with OEM wheels, 265/70/17, I like them, no issues

 

Seems like there are a lot of people that haven't had issues and just as many that have. Not sure what the difference is. Production change in the drum I suppose.

Someone told me that I would be able to run the 265/70/17 tire on any offset without any rubbing, is that right? Ive been trying to figure out the offset I want to go with. Most wheels online ive seen are 17x8 or 17x8.5 and I am looking around the 0 offset to -10. I am still trying to figure out what I can run without any rubbing issues. Id like to stick with the 265/70/17 tire.

 

Mine are +5, factory 4 runner are +4. I have still read about people rubbing with this size with mud flaps but i think it was people with an sr5 or even a sport. With the OR you should not have any rubbing with a 265 70r17. That being said it seems like people with the same set up can have different results but this size is the biggest you can go safely with almost no chance of rubbing on the OR suspension.

 

I have the Falken 265 70r17 with SCS Ray 10 17x8 -10 and they rubbed until I lifted the front 2". With mudflaps they will still rub going into a driveway (wheels turned some) But without the MF they are fine. At stock height with the -10 offset they will rub on the inner fender liner

I might have to stick with a 0 or +4-5 offset to not experience any issues.

Hey I just wanted to ask you about this again.
I really like the SCS BR6 and that has the -10 offset. I want to run the 265/70/17 tire.
How much trimming did you have to do? I plan on taking off the mudflaps to make it fit but is there other spots it will rub?
