Morning guys. Snowed most of the day here yesterday. No accumulation but definitely a taste of what's to come...

Speaking of weather, Sunday/Sunday night into Monday is looking like it's going to be a mess of wind/rain/flooding

Hey everyone! I know we talked about old and new video games a while back, and I am still itching for some online NES play. Anyone in for a future game of Contra, Jackal, Snake Rattle n Roll, etc????

Anyone else been eying up the new 4th gen? I'm really diggin all the changes. Frame, rear suspension, larger disc brakes all around, hybrid turbo engine, hp and torque, increased payload, improved seats (position, power, heated/cooled, bolstered, lumbar), cameras everywhere, etc.... Sounds like Toyota has really been listening. I'm not in it for '24 or '25 but maybe a '26.

I personally cannot get past that massive screen sticking out of the dash. Any vehicle that has a screen that seems like an "after thought" does not sit well with me.

To be honest, not really since they put the Access Cab out to pasture.
I really don't have a need for 4 doors and the AC suits me fine.
To me getting rid of the clamshell doors is like a step back into the 90s.
For whatever reason, safety, crash test, blah blah. Had a 96 Chevy extended cab I bought new without a 3rd door. ($400 option at the time).
Just plain sucks without the doors.
And the 24 xtra cab is only in the lower trim levels. without the new suspension. WTF.

My 2nd gen is still great and has low miles. Was toying with the idea of a 4th gen in a few years. Not sure about it now.

    Rant over.

I'm okay with the screen but that HUGE Tacoma logo has got to go

And agree with @bucktales I'm an access cab fan. Need bed length rather than seating

But if that giant tacoma logo isnt there, how will you know what you are driving! My backseat is pretty much my trunk, plus the dog is likely happier being in the back of the double cab rather than the back of an access cab. That extra 1ft would have been nice, but Id rather have the back seat.

I also dont like the electric parking brake in the 4th gen. It seems odd to drive a manual and then not yank up on a lever to park.

    Another "No-Go".:annoyed:

    10 bids. Down to 2.
I was one of the "two".
    I went 30k over asking...cash. It don't mean a rats azz anymore.
It's like a "Dancing With The Stars" competition.
And you don't know what you're bidding against.
This has been the pattern for the almost 2 years I've been looking.
Don't see it ending anytime soon here in ct. :bananadead:

My wifes ‘14 outback was a manual, and had an electric parking brake. Im used to yanking it up from my old jeep, but the electric parking breaks have been around for a while. Times, they are a changin’

And now that I am thinking about it, my 08 wrx had an electric brake that held the car when you were on a hill and letting the clutch out- to prevent rollback. Had a button to turn it off. Totally forgot about that feature.

I agree about the big tablet like screen and the electronic parking brake. Wish the screen was more integrated into the dash. I also don't care for the push to start but I will get used to it. I believe there is an app for your phone so you would not even need to carry the fob. That would be nice but I read that it's a subscription service - no thanks. Gonna miss the drivers side grab handle. Use it every time I get in. they put them in the back now but none in front. WTH. And why no seat back pocket on the driver side? Also bummed about the lose of storage space under the back seats due to batteries for the hybrid and looks like less behind the seats too with the massive JBL speaker there. Still excited about the numerous other improvements. I had an extra cab '01 before my current double cab '09. It was a pain getting anything in the back, especially kids car seats and having to buckle them in through the front door. But now I am sticking with the double cab. No going back even though it's just me and 1 passenger 99% of the time. I think the double cab short bed looks the best (IMO). Also, the 5' bed is plenty for my needs. I have a trailer for anything bigger.

get a manual and you will probably still have a physical key like in my 2020. I much prefer that actual to pressing a pedal and pushing a button. I doubt they would do the push button start in the manual, I havent really seen that on any modern cars. I know even the s2000 had a push button start but you also needed to turn a physical key. It was just an extra step for the "cool" factor.

And I agree with the grab handles! I wish I had one on my driver side in the 2020, but on well.
