CEL is on and I dictates small evap leak. Bought a new OEM cap and after one click its awfully easy to twist off. Old one is much tighter and I can remember what it was like new. I'm thinking it might not be OEM, lots of fake sellers on Amazon.

    Any thoughts?

It’s not usually the gas cap.
But yes, Amazon is full of knock offs.

Do not purchase a radiator cap from Amazon. The seller showed one part number in the ad and sent another part number, plus it appears to be an aftermarket one. It looked nothing like my OEM cap.

Was the cap you got from Amazon described as OEM Toyota?

How do the details -- mold part lines, imprinted coding, and so on, compare between your original and your Amazon replacment? Counterfeits are usually pretty easy to tell if you have an original side-by-side.

if you ask for a refund from Amazon and note the product is a counterfeit, they're likely to refund your money and tell you to keep (or trash) the one you have. They've done that for me in the past.

(But if you review the product and note it's a counterfeit in your review, Amazon won't post it...)

As soon as I opened the package and saw the part number on the it, it was on it's way back. I live near a UPS service center, it took longer for me print out the return authoriztion.
It had the part number for the '05/'09 models on the package, a different style sticker on the cap top, and no markings stamped in the caps metal cover. It was completely different than what the ad described. On top of that, it took nearly three weeks to get it.

Yeah I was thinking the same but I'll start with the cap. It clicks way before it's tight. We'll see.

Ok replaced the cap with a new one from dealer. Still not very tight. They even confirmed the one I bought online was genuine. I cleaned the fuel inlet and nothing. Strange. Old cap.

It’s probably the evap canister, a hose, or the purge valve.
