    That’s just stupid.

If you’re willing to spend that much, there are many alternatives.

Probably why toyota is holding back on the hybrids and upper trims. Let people get over the sticker shock on inflated lower trims because "new", and then hit the consumer with "normal" prices of well over 60k.

The only reason they’re holding back is because the models are not finished yet.

For a lot less. Have been playing with the Chevy Colorado builder (since you know Toyota is dragging their feet)

You can get a lot of truck between $35-45K. Even the base WT with the detuned engine sounds pretty good, makes 260 ft/lbs at 1200 rpm. Only 8 lower than the current Tacoma 3.5 V6, but available at a low rpm, even with 4WD you can keep it around $35K. So not too terrible. Tacoma SR DCSB 4WD starts at 36,900 with peak 243 ft/lbs.

Pretty sure they are and just now waiting on suppliers to catch up to start production. Same thing happened with Tundra. Now why the hiding the price, who knows.

Is that whole “supply chain” thing still a thing?

I've done the same with several manufactures, issue for me is I really like the idea of multi link rear and the tacoma interior looks pretty nice loaded up.

Agreed. “Supply Chain” is the battle cry of lazy, fat fucks.

I mean I’m pretty sure the truck is finished and maybe it just took a bit for final details to be worked out on the hybrids and thus suppliers haven’t started fulfilling orders to the point of production availability. Just an idea or Toyota still working on implementing into the production line? But Tundra followed a similar path in delay with hybrids.

    A $68,000 Tacoma?

I just don’t know man. Seems pretty steep to me.

I mean I get it. It’s a “trail ready” set up now with the lift and 33’s but c’mon man. That’s a lot of coin for a little Truck.

Well, the average Tacoma 45k, mods and add-on to overland 65k to 80k?

Yeah I know those serious overlanders dump between 20-60k on after market stuff to eat eggs and bacon on the trail.

But I think that’s pretty rare. 10% maybe of the buyers? Maybe they are counting on just selling the optioned out gas models and just building a few of the top tier?

I mean, I can go today and buy a limited Tundra for $61,000 and put some dobinsons on it and come out about even.

First time I’ve seen this Terra color. I like it (I think it’s Pro-only though?)

Apples to apples isn’t buying you a full size truck. $70,000 for a discounted TRD Pro.

You don’t need a Pro if you use the SxS for off-roading.

If we are looking at off-road capability vs capability. SXS will smoke a Tacoma Pro. Halo vehicles are kinda lame off road anyways, more about street showboating than anything. When I see them, automatically think that guy paid waaaay too much just to look cool.

Who really looks at apples to apples anyways? Like to see what I can get for the same amount of money. Possibilities are endless. :) Have buddy who “overlands” out of Corolla, hauls a tent, some camp gear and a bicycle for bike packing. One of the most frugal guys I know and retired at age 45.

Man, the good ol’ days. Paid $6000 for my ‘92 used. Went all over the West and Baja with that truck, stock other than some ATs. We were “overlanding” and didn’t even know it!
