I am new here, I have been looking to purchase a Tacoma for a while now and I found one nearby however its almost $16000 with almost 90k miles on it. These things hold their value apparently and i cannot find a low mileage one ANYWHERE.

My question is, if i do decide on this one, it has some weird personilized details to it. I dont like all the chrome and black mixed. I want to do all black and get rid of the chrome crud.

Anyone make/sell a diff grill: The on on the vehicle is ugly! And the side mirros look like they have a cover on them?? Any help.. Here is the link :

I'd pass on that one. Trucks looks kinda crusty, and autozoned out. Plus that 2 tone looks horrid.

I'd pass on that one as well. It looks like they went nuts in one of the Pepboys or Autozone aisles. It just looks tacky to me, cheap grille, cheap fog lights, I'd remove the tail light tints, the chrome mirrors, the two toned paneling if you even can. Point is there are more options and better trucks available don't just go with this one cause it's the first one you found. Look in Autotrader but search in Texas. There are TONS of Tacomas here, hell the Tacomas are made here in Texas...

I think I was overly concerned about mileage yes. That one I posted is an ugly beast and would take a lot of working getting back to stock. I'll keep looking, I don't mind driving to find a good one. So u think anything under 150k is ok?!

    Thanks again for the input.

That one looks to have been Rhino Lined. I would stay away (unless you like the look). Clean ones are out there, keep looking. You will find one..

    welcome from corrales!

My grandpa is a used car dealer and goes to the auctions in the south valley every week (I have no idea where they are or what day). Point is he found my truck at carmax for $8,000 with 146k miles on it. It is an xtra cab and not TRD but still, it was a killer deal.
Definitely hold out until you find the right one, they are out there.

X3 on the tackiness factor! :puke:

Where's the Rhino??? That looks like a stock/plastic Toyota bedliner to me, and the two-tone color looks too smooth to be Rhino.

X4 on the "keep looking" recommendation, OP.

Ya, i too would pass on it. At that price it aught to have below or around 50000 miles. I picked mine up at a dealership for $16495 with only 58075 miles on it with warranty, lift kit, wheels and tires and some other goodies. Keep looking, something is bound to show up.

gentleman, thank you kindly. A LOT of nice trucks on here, and helpful group as well. Thanks again, i am just getting eager to get into a nice tacoma. I really want automatic for ease of use etc. but i am sure the 5 speed will last longer.

I want 4wd, I have searched Texas Arizona Utah and Colorado and nothing really fits , there's fewer than 80 out there and maybe 6 decent one.

I bought mine with 140,000 miles on it and it runs like a top. Had to change the power steering rack bushings and had the timing belt done. If you find one that's had a little care, the engine will go for a lot more miles. I got an automatic because that was the only one I could find. You don't find many for sale in North Louisiana either.

Nice!! I Like that one in New Hampshire! Wow what a drive that'll be. But that is just what i was looking for. The dealership said they still have it too.

I have no doubt i will get a high mileage one, but dont fear the mileage. I just want a tacoma SO badly. about at wits end, i checked my surrounding states. New Hampshire .. here i come haha

Hey if the condition and price are right, and you have time fly and get one out of state. Mine came from Cali, and even with gas and hotels was cheaper than any locally at the time.

Just want to jump in on this with my exp.

16K is stupid for that Taco. Everyone's right, AutoZoned to hell by a 16 year old.
Also, it's not being sold by a Toy dealer. (for that price, it should be stock and sold by a Toyota Dealer, single owner, all maintenance history, 25k lower miles etc. "The Whole 9")

I spent 4 months looking for my Double Cab.

I had 2 'perfect' matches sold out from under me before i could even send the 'hold' check!

The first one was listed online and sold within 6 hours.
The second, i had one sales rep hold it, wrote the check, about to overnight it and i get a call that a diff sales rep had sold it while we were talking... (or so he said)

    My criteria:
01-04 Double Cab (Like the 4door+Kid on the way)
    Black Ext.
    Grey Int.
    SR5 or Limited/TRD
    Under 100k Miles
    Under $13K

I wound up flying to Mass. for my truck with 98k miles on it from Minnesota! ~1700 mile drive home.

I bought from a ma and pa dealer, so of course, i needed some new tires, and about $1k in maintenance, but for the $, i was happy that i could do the maint. my way, and put the parts on that i want. Check engine light came on after 120 miles :/ with the common P0420 Cat/front O2 codes... but i digress

Worth it to wait - Just make checking Autotrader.com the first thing you do when you wake up, and before you go to bed. And be willing to travel.

    Good luck!
