If the spring is loose then you actually have 0 preload. Preload is measured by how far the coil is compressed on the shock, not by how many threads are showing. You should add at least a little preload. Like 1/8"

Are the cv axles different between 4runners,fj cruisers and tacoma? Need to go to the junk yard soon to find some donors for a +2 kit.

    Stock-ish
Spline count for the axle shaft is. Tacomas are like 29 spline or something, all suvs are 30 spline

OK thanks. Can you point me in the right direction to buy fully assembled +2 cv axles if I fail to find cores.

I realized that and gave him a plan if not getting any better cs from w.c. Hopefully they follow through with getting him the coil bucket adapters more quickly than the coilovers themselves.

Kinda slow today. I did a coil bucket repair on a buddies truck this weekend. The old style chaos shock mounts gave out and bent the bucket. We replaced with icon hats and 1/4” steel on the bucket. Further plan it to double the plate tying into a secondary shock mount. That coil bucket material is thin. It didn’t take much to tweak it back into place.

Has anyone trussed a stock axle? I have searched and only saw 1 person that did it not on TW.

I believe that Dirt Designs includes a truss with their 3 link kit, not sure if they would sell it separately?

Are you just building your own? I guess I am more wondering if bending the rear axle is a possibility on these.

My use case is going 60-70 on logging roads that sometimes have some pretty deep holes and or jumps in them. Fully loaded ~1000lbs for a weekend of camping and fishing.

Those back trusses are interesting, I would think youd want the strength in the other direction mostly.

Both of these are Ruff Stuff - the second one is for a 9”. Usually rear is sufficient

This one is back and top with back for a 9” from RS

I bought a truss kit from Ballistic Fab to 4 link the rear. I haven’t bent it yet but I am trussing it so I won’t have to worry about that happening.

I did the Ruff Stuff truss on a clean axle, with the whole weld here, weld there, cool down, repeat method. The axle was so bent the truck wasn't drivable and wore out a brand new set of tires in 1500 miles. I did another with just a small truss where my original axle cracked. This time I fully assembled the housing on the bench and only welded 1-2" at a time with full cool down. I don't think this one bent. Never again will I do a full truss on a housing.

454 is supposed to truss my rear axle next week with the 1st gen truss kit. Now that I’ve read it’ll pretty much garuntee I warp the housing im kinda nervous to have it done.
