My first attempt at it. It’s in my ram though. Definitely had some big issues like the drawer slides breaking from weight, not knowing how to line them up correctly. Lessons learned. Once I get back into a Tacoma this month I’ll fix those issues next time I build it.

Just started building my set up...Im only doing one side at a time... I notched out the piece(s) to sit flush for the 2x4 going front to back. That way I don't need any screws and it will be modular. Still deciding how to join the x2, 8" legs in the rear of the bed... probably a 1" peg that slots into the top boards. Later on the passenger side/bed will be added... thinking of going with birch for the plywood.

I love the pull out tables! The gain in functionality and space more than makes up for the minimal loss in drawer capacity Such a great design.

What kind of carpet is this? Or where can i find it? I have built a bed based off of yours and I’m trying to figure out what kind of lining would be best.

for carpet I used somehting like this, and cut it up to be stapled to the boards (wrapped around and stapled to the bottom):

I did another build a few years after that first one and I used carpet padding and glue

This is in my ram. I plan on having someone build me a similar double drawer setup in my Tacoma though for surfing trips. I had and have no clue what I’m doing with wood working so the drawer really sucks barely works lol

Nice work, really like this setup. I have a couple questions.
    1. Do you have a link to the Hooke road tailgate panel? I tried searching their site but couldn't find anything.
    2. Where did you get your laminate from?

Very nice. So is the reflectix just sewn inside a cloth pocket and the velcro tabs just sticks to the carpet of the topper? Might be time for me to borrow a sewing machine and learning to sew.

Yessir. I’m working on some new ones for my new Tacoma right now I’ll post it once I’m done. Using Velcro on the trim then using the inner panel of the window seal to hold it on the other part.

Awesome, please do. Is there an issue with the current ones that you are trying to improve on with this new design?

I'm looking at this topper: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C22fpUOrbk5/ they have a sale going on right now here they adjust from 4 to 7 foot beds but I'm waiting for one that's going 8 foot and is on their to do list as they replied to me (I also have a 1ton dodge 4x4). With the topper lift the sky is the limit as far as diy sleeping platforms go

Looks like the panels slides back and forth to adjust bed length. Pretty slick way to make it universal but I wonder how well keep water and dust out due to it's design.

Also with how the rear cover is facing I wonder will it open up like a parachute on the freeway.
