Mahomes point in the post game interview is refs normally give a warning for an offensive player lining up like that and he has never seen that called in 7 years (on the offense). Having a great play like that erased is a shame even if the Bills answer and win it. All that said Toney was offsides, clear as day. Brings back painful Dee Ford memories. Or I should say nightmare. I think it is the right call but if they do indeed ‘normally’ warn first they should be consistent.

Since when it is the responsibility of the Ref to make sure the players are not breaking the rules. They players are getting paid millions of dollars to play the game and should know the rules and how to freaking line up on the line of scrimmage.

Game clock and play clock running, time running out might be on you to do it right. Just because a warning is given sometimes doesn’t mean there’s opportunity every time. If it’s even true I don’t think I’ve ever seen the defense given that assist. Niners O-line got called for the same thing today, 55 Jon Feliciano.
Additional- all he had to do was look at the line judge for a thumbs up, never looked. Reid said the coach usually gets a warning HTF does that work? So he can call time out?
I get Mahomes frustration but he’s wrong and owes the ref an appology.

 

To be clear, I wasn’t saying it was a bad call, just explaining why he was so upset. In my opinion it’s not on the ref, just really a shame as his line up didn’t affect an otherwise great play (like Dee Ford). I have to own up that if the shoe was on the other foot I’d want the penalty called. Toney needs to pack his bags, we are 10-3 and top seed if he doesn’t lose the Lions and Bills games for us. Although there was still time for the Bills if that play stood. Has anyone else seen a WR personally lose 2 games in one year?

He’s had his share go his way with others on the upset side. Pretty sure we had a few tight end holding calls cost us some big plays. More than 2 a year, seemed like one a week. Brent Jones, Russ Francis, John Frank was probably the worst.

 

Dee Ford bit us in the ass the following few years after that. Couldn’t heal up from his injuries.

Last comment on the KC call … refs said they do warn unless the player is so far forward they can’t see the ball. I accept that. Mahomes complaints (I believe) are an accumulation of frustration from his receivers this year (most drops in the league). More surprising is Andy complaining, he normally doesn’t. And Britney complaining. … nobody cares.
