    Morning all.

Had some pretty wild weather on Saturday evening. Tornadoes southwest of us in the Nashville area (as you know, very close to US Marine's place). For us, it was basically just rain, and lots of it.

On top of all the other crap that we have been through this year, the heavy rain almost collapsed the "roof" on our chicken pen this weekend, and of course the roof on our house developed a leak due to the storms. I have to call our home owners insurance and see how we can put in a claim to have it repaired. We knew from a pre-purchase inspection, that the roof was in need to replacement (it is 17 years old), but we had no money to have it done, and our bank refused to lend us money as we have $0 equity in the house (since we just bought it in November 2022). So, insurance is our only option right now, since I still haven't found another job yet. My wife is not taking all this very well. I can empathize with her, but I can't make her see thinigs as I do, that it's all part of life, and the shit will eventually pass and we'll get back to "normal" some day.

Yep. It snowed but melted last night so super icy today. Hope the roads clear up between now and then!

^^^^^^^^ THIS!! take as many days as you can! cause the second you retire............ its all over & you dont want to give an extra second!

post note: this is what happened to me today......

worked 36 years in my trade. never missed any time, rarely took a vacation, worked tons of overtime. NEVER got laid off a single time. NEVER even filed for unemployment.

sooooooo....... figured at that end of my time would do my last 26 weeks on unemployment & see why all those guys told me i was stupid for never taking any time off.
they always said: you pay into it, why dont you draw it sometime?
ok here we are at the end last January & i do just that. WOW! those guys were onto something! until TODAY when unemployment decided that they paid me too long & i have to now pay them back a week. right at Xmas when everyone is expecting cash from me already... now the state wants $680 too. sigh.:

CVYota: dont let that sway you. get out the second you can. you worked your whole life, now let life work for YOU.

Hmm, Butte Montana, pronounced B-YOU-t. But alas, there are two consonants between the vowels. Shouldn’t that make it pronounced as BUT Montana…

Sunday was Santa to the Sea run. I got up at 0530 (normal really) then headed over to CBTL for a dirty chai. I was the first vehicle in the VIP parking area, which was nice, but then I had almost 1.5 hours to stand around before race start.
Target for 5k was to break 35:00, I'd been training at 4.5K, regularly doing just under 7:00 per.

Came in 5/14 in mens 55-59, at 31:59!!!!! Something about competition motivation. There were people who did 1/4 and 1/2 marathons in their 80s and above. Shoot, that means I have to do this a few more years. ..

Then there was pancakes, bananas, Arizona recovery drinks, Michelob Ultra seltzers, and some kind of vodka/cranberry/soda little teasers.

Got home pretty tired, and wife informs me that Luna is needed to move furniture for her sister. We ended up adopting a small sofa bed too.

It's Monday morning, and I'm as tired as MTGirl sounds.
