Its been 3 1/2 months and my dealer just called yesterday to let me know the blower motor parts are in. This is supposedly different than the the 2 motors they have replaced. I will report back with what the fix is and the part numbers when i get it done.

5100's all the way around. Front set at .85. Camburg Spindles. Camburg Uniball 1.25 UCA's. Total Chaos LCA skid plates. Custom Deaver 10 pack rear leaf spring. BFG AT KO's 285/70/17, Weathertech floor liners, Wet Okoles. Midland CB/PA, Firestick.
Just got mine done - Had to wait about two weeks - I asked it it was the upgraded one with the insulation. I heard stories of the dealerships replacing the blower with the same model - only to find out that in a few months the same problem occurs. No squeaky, irritating noise - Yay!

I am going to try the fix this week. I had the same problem on my 1st gen tacoma, twice to the dealership for a new assembly...still chirped.

I noticed that balance is also an issue, I had to trim the fan down with a dremel on the last truck. But it finally worked.

Thats interesting...you trimmed the fan and it fixed the problem?

Mine is definitely not a balance issue. I can manually turn the fan blade and hear when it hits the chirp part of it's rotation. It actually chirps if I move the fan blade in either direction. It's just a bad spot.

The insulation they use to reduce future chirps is still on backorder....

I just dropped my blower Today. Mine is not unfortunately a balance issue either.

My question. While removing the motor. I forgot to disconnect the plastic clip that holds the wires in the back. I never let the motor hang free by just the wires. But I did put a little strain on the wires by placing the motor on the floor. Any chance I damaged the wires behind the dash?

I just got my replaced today on my 2010 as well. Last week I had taken it in for a 15k Service, and told them about the noise I was hearing. Of course it was making the sound on the drive there, but as soon I as pulled up (even left it running) it went away and they couldnt get it to replicate. I was holding off on saying there was a TSB to see if they would check it themselves, sure enough they came back and said there was a TSB and that they would order me the part, oh and that I was number 9 on the list and it might take a while. But, then they called me on Friday and said it came in, and I took it today.

Should I be worried that mine reads:

    87103-04041 Motor Sub-Assy. B

Did I just get the same one, and not the newer one ??

Either way, I guess its a waiting game

Yea I'm tired of waiting for my dealer and that new blower and replacement fan kit. I'm gonna order the tyc one tonight.

Same here. Blower was in. But insulation is backordered. I don't get it. It's foam. Not hard to make.

Anyway. Besides that. I just ordered the tyc one off Amazon. $52 dollars shipped. Not terrible. I'll keep it when they replace the old fan and install insulation kit. But atleast I won't have humping crickets for the next few months while they wait for my foam

Also. Ran a test today with a sound level checker. Yes. Majority of the noise comes from the passenger floor area. But, the foam won't help much. The sound also travels through all the ducts the fan is connected to, dashboard, floor, etc. And obviously you cant wrap the entire ducts in foam easily. Atleast not without taking the entire dashboard off, and if you have under seat ducts
(double cab), the entire carpet, front seats, etc. Would have to be removed.

Dealer yesterday couldn't replicate the noise but ordered me the tsb kit. I was told it should be in mid way through next week.

The white centrifugal fan wheel (hamster wheel). It took some trial and error to get it perfect. I thought the rotor shaft of the motor was bent, but it was the insert in the fan where it connects to the motor. What is weird is that it only did it on the low setting, which is what my truck does now.

So I'm standing in my garage spinning the disassembled motor assembly and fan....I spin the fan once to hard, it jerks out of my hand and hits the bottom corner of my workbench cracking a piece off the fan...is that covered by the TSB?

Looks like I'll be getting the TYC kit:mad:

I think if the stock Toyota motor housing used a sealed bearing in the rear instead of a bushing it would solve the problem...also, maybe a brushless motor.

Maybe that will solve the balancing issues.......

But anyway, If someone were to design a fan for the Tacoma with a sealed bearing, id be willing to shell out 150 bucks for it :)

    Stupid lubricated patch and bushing.....
