The sequoia is kind of a niche vehicle. If you want to seat eight but have better towing capacity and off-road capability than an expedition or Tahoe. It’s certainly more robust than the competition.

Numbers don’t lie. Let’s look at both pro models for comparison.

Tacoma: 11 inches of ground clearance, 33.8 approach angle, 25.7 degree departure angle.

sequoia: 9.1 inches of ground clearance, 23 degree approach angle, 20 degree departure.

Keep in mind the sequoia is 1500 pounds heavier, wider, and most likely offers less articulation in the rear, and less in the front compared to the Tacoma’s new disconnecting sway bars.

Unless you absolutely need a third row, I don’t get this vehicle. It’s such a compromise.

The Sequoia does at least illustrate how much better the Tundra front end could look with very little effort.

Not often, but thats the primary draw of this class of vehicle. The same buyer will be cross shopping suburbans and expeditions. How often do off-road owners engage their rear locker? Same thing.

I’m surprised they didn’t axe it, Americans seem to prefer domestics for this class of vehicle anyway. Their SUV lineup is getting saturated. I can see a place for the new LC in the lineup though. Slightly larger than the 4Runner but not as monstrous as the sequoia.

Saw the terra color on a Sequoia Pro for sale over the weekend. I hated it.

Edit: Wasn’t calling you a moron for liking it BTW.

Somebody else likes it, and will buy it. Everyone likes something different. As it should be.

Same its like a clay pot, mixed with poop sort of color. Not a fan. But I'm sure many will dig it.

8 seat suvs are for people who hate vans and would rather have something completely unusable for its intended purpose instead.

It not necessarily just for hauling 7 people. It’s more for hauling a couple kids and stuff for road trips, skiing, sports, etc.

Exactly. Good for those that like it. I just don’t, and that’s not their concern. I won’t tell them, unless they happen to see me vomit and inquire.

I think they should have made the Sequoia even longer. Add another foot to it so you get some useable storage similar to a suburban.

Yea the storage space is abysmal when using the third row.
