Anyone been out in the hwy 50/722 area lately between Middlegate and Austin? We haven’t had a very wet winter so far so I assume trail conditions are good?

We're heading out there Sunday morning, I'll definitely give a full report. Forecast for Austin looks like snow last I checked.

Was just out there 2 weeks ago after a small storm. Little bit of snow at campbell creek area and carroll summit station. Smith creek valley was just muddy. I'll be heading back out there this weekend to cut more firewood off buffalo creek and can report back then.

I'm heading out with a group "hunting" Christmas trees and possible sledding. I'll keep an eye out for your truck.

@cartter469, did you end up putting lights on the truck?

I made a little wreath with cuttings from our tree and wrapped some lights in it. Should probably buy an all red string but we had this and white, which I figured would be more likely to get me pulled over.

722 was clear yesterday. We turned off on Buffalo Creek towards Ione. Light snow on the road in the shaded areas. Minimal snow on the ground.

I did then I undid it cus a stupid campus police officer talked to me at a red light pulled up next to me and was like “technically that’s a no no and some of the old guys will get you for it” so I figured don’t risk being late for work or somethin else cus a old head grumpy cop wants to give me a hard time. Plus my duct tape wasn’t sticking to the top of the bed rails very well this year

We drove out Saturday. Patches of snow over the summit on 722 past where you turn off to Ione all the way until you drop into Smith Valley. Roads were mostly dry and dusty but we weren’t able to soak due to the springs we went to being way too muddy to drive to. I think they diverted the water since the last time I was there.

Those heavy rains a couple weeks back didn't help a lot of the road conditions at all.

This was over 50 at Sand Spring Pass back in September

Oh wow I remember that, 722 was like that then just not quite as bad as Sand Pass.

Anyone here have little ones that are starting to ski? I have 3 pairs of kids skis and a pair of adjustable boots that I'm going to be listing for sale on FB marketplace in the next week or so but figured I'd offer them up here first. The boots size is 16.0-18.5 and the skis are a 67, 80, and 95. These have been my daughter's setups from age 2 (almost 3) to 6 (almost 7).

I'm planning to list the boots for $65 the small skis for $40, the other two skis for $75 each.

That said, I'd take $150 for the everything just to cover the cost of my daughter's new ski boots and I'm planning on donating whatever is left to the program at sky tavern once I hit $150.

We did not. We started at Diamond Peak but currently ski at Mt Rose. Friends did sky tavern a few years ago and liked it.
