Mine makes a loud knock at idle and has since I bought it new (not the cleaning cycle sound) but I’m still not convinced it’s normal.

Here’s one with 200k+ miles and the engine sounds completely normal.

    Here’s my brand new 2023

Definitely sounds like some kind of valve/lash adjuster issue, except I’ve seen so many people report the same noise.

To further my point that it’s likely valve related, the knocking or tapping is around 300rpm, or roughly half the idle rpm, which is what the cams are rotating at.

I got a great Tip. Don't remove your booster pack from the truck and leave it at home to charge. Bonehead move! :annoyed:

I took mine out of the truck before driving to Costco, and sure enough my Taco's 6 year old Battery finally died in the parking lot!

Yep, they said it was gonna be cold tonight, so might as well charge it for the winter....

Is the compass function selectable? If so, how do you select the different display modes?

Compass is its own page on center display accessed with left or right buttons. The only customizable screen is the first page, farthest left, and you can change what is displayed via the settings page, farthest right.

Since we're talking about the cluster screens, can anyone tell me what is supposed to be on the 5th screen on the info tab? The 4th screen is the coffee cup and if I scroll down one more I get this. Why is it blank? I've driven like this for days and I've never seen anything on it.

Funny thing, I got in it later and the compass shows a truck icon and the outer ring now spins to show the direction of travel. No idea how, but I like it a lot more. Hope it sticks

I think you customize that page in settings? Not sure.

Nope (at least not for me). You can customize page 1, 2, and 3. The last two aren't even listed. I'm hoping someone is going to show a pic of what they have there if it's different.

I assumed that blank page is for maintenance type messages. Like oil change due. Might be wrong.

Is there a way to have the compass “spin” in the direction your driving instead of north always being on top?

Yes, there definitely is. Sadly enough I can’t tell you how. It happened to mine but I have no idea how, I’m just grateful it did. It was driving me nuts. If I can repeat it, I’ll be sure to share.

I’ve looked at every setting option and can’t find it. I’ve probably looked over it a dozen times!

First pic isn't mine, but how it was. Second pic is mine and how it is.

In my 2019 you change that through the radio by touching 1 on the diagram below.

I have noticed that when in Android Auto, if you rotate the Tune/Scroll knob while listening to a podcast in Spotify, it will seek forward/backwards by about 15 seconds, same with the up/down buttons on the steering that share the volume controls. I haven't tried other services or with an iPhone.

Can confirm long press steering wheel control will skip forward on music in Spotify on an iPhone. Podcasts press and release skips forward not the entire podcast, but haven’t tried the tuning knob on either songs or podcasts. I’ll give it a shot thanks!

Just found out I have remote start. It was the only item on my build sheet I wanted when buying, that wasn't there. Turns out it is something is on most modern Toyotas, built in...odd. Gonna check the GS 350 when the wife gets home!

    How to remote start.
-In sequence, Tap the lock button twice, then long press the lock button for appox 3-5 secs and once you will hear the electronics start to cycle, release.
