Careful with Amazon spark plugs. A lot of them are replicas and can cost an engine. A co-worker found this out the hard way.

My truck is only about 6 months old so just following this for the information. That video was terrible though. Couldn't see most of what he was doing. Who starts a plug change at night and films it?

    Folks claiming $500-600 is insane

    1-3hr labor
    $230/hr
    Plugs x6 price + markup

    the math maths

street parking lot and Google is free
Can also drive over do laundry fold clothes handfeed cereal $70+

don’t know about 3.5 but did them on 4.0 on the way home as an afterthought in 30-60min in a parking lot
good way to wait out traffic

Side work is $50/hr. You can find a tech.
Dealers add $20 for porter valet.

    they’re due earlier than that

changing #8 on an LS1 was not a pleasant experience. when I sold that car I remember thinking I'll miss the car but I won't miss changing plugs. from what I've read so far, the Taco V6 might be the same. we'll have to see what the 2025 4runner re-design looks like.

Spark plugs are around $100 for a set of six. If you're not comfortable doing any of the work yourself post up a thread in your region and I'm sure forum members would be willing to lend a hand. Plenty of how to's and YouTube videos available for reference.

All 3 of my passenger side spark plugs were loose (not even finger tight) from the factory. A couple of the drivers side were loose too, but not as bad.

#8 on an LS1 can be reached from underneath the car. On the Tacoma they're all accessible from the top of the engine bay.

A huge chunk of us on here have had the middle plug on the passenger side loose...would be good to check that, at least.

Amazon and the Chi-a-neez will try to sell you knockoff anything. It’s a pirate’s paradise.

Yep. China is pretty bad at flooding the marketplace with shit. I purchased some off Amazon for my IS350 and they were replica's.

Now I almost feel like I need to go check but looking at that link that golfindia posted, I'm confident mine were legit. Did your car perform bad? Did you know right away they were junk?

I just bought 6 plugs from Toyota online today. With discounts, tax, and shipping to FL, it was $63.50.

    Not too shabby.

I never installed them. Someone warned me about these fake spark plugs and now I return the favor. My buddy installed them on his IS300 and after 10k miles started having issues. He removed them and the plugs looked like they had 50k miles on them already.
My coworker was not so lucky. Electrode broke off and ate a piston on his Infinity G37. He found a 100k mile motor for 6k and then sold it.

No money, all went to truck...
I probably would have difficulty doing it myself. If it were me, I'd pay it and be done. My time running around to other shops is worth more. I am liking Toyota service near my house lately. Very professional and careful. I worry about smaller shops and how they will handle my truck.

I don't know that you are wrong but I changed mine at 80,000 and I noticed that my truck ran smoother after. I do have 4.88 and a tune so that may change the equation. I was more worried about the plugs corrosion and sticking in the head. Once I took them out they looked fine so I guess that wasn't an issue. Pics are in my build thread on page 3

yes, taking off the wheel and approaching from under made things a little more palatable.

hopefully if I still have the Taco when spark plug change time rolls around, it will be easier than it sounds.
