Right but the assumption was that if 2wd wasn't an option then the model has AWD.

Only on the limited which historically had a 2wd or 4wd option.

This is what I’d be targeting if I stay with a Tacoma. But only if the activation energy of buying is a lot lower than today. Im not treating a bare bones SR5 purchase like a custom Porsche boxter.

Made a ZR2 Colorado. Which competes with a PRO not an OR...

And it came out to be 52,570. Comes with way more power 310(hp)and torque at 430 tq
Comes with better DSSV shocks which are technically even better than the Fox's on the PRO

Agreed, the ZR2 is the money that I'm surprised more people aren't jumping all over. The value is unbelievable. "But it doesn't have the power rear slider!" and "I drove a 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier in 1998, I'd never buy another GM product because clearly they're the same product today!" also "I know 2 people with Chevy trucks who had issues, so because they had issues all Chevy trucks have issues. Therefore I will not buy one".
Should about cover all the comments on the bowtie.

Fully loaded Z71 which compares to an OR is 48,230. A full 7k less.

Buying today... MSRP to MSRP and feature for feature... Chevy knocked it out of the park. And Toyota went backwards IMO. Granted the "Hybrid" powertrain will be a bit better as far as efficiency... but given that OR tops out at 55k.... a PRO with that powertrain will likely lick 60.... and 8k sure buys a lot of gas... not to mention markups on the PROs, and the inability to even order one.

If I were buying a bare bones SR5... my 2021 V6 loaded 4wd Off-road Premium is worth what, ~$35,000 ??? Then turn around and buy a plain jane 2wd SR5 for 4k more? No way.

Cheapest 23’ Colorado ZR2 on cars.com is $46k…. Not sure what options it has but it makes a $50k OR NON HYBRID a tough pill to swallow.

Trail boss has a WT interior. You can’t even get heated seats in it. It’s simply not comparable to whichever tacoma trim you’re likely comparing it to

If you want a Gen4 just wait a year or so. They are priced on the high side, and by hanging out a while you’ll probably save yourself thousands off the sticker (see: Tundra).

I also wouldn’t touch a new Tacoma at least until Ranger & Colorado production comes back online and creates some price pressure. You’re literally buying into a one-truck monopoly right now, so negotiating power is at an all-time low.

A free market w plenty of choices will correct itself in 2024. If the Tacoma is too expensive as many (most?) believe you can bet the deals will follow later. And if not, worst case is you’ll still get a better rate later next year, skip the TSB’s & recalls…no brainer.

Okay so is it the heated seats that makes the Tacoma worth $12k more? lmao

What do you think about the Chevy Silverado 1500 Custom 4x4 for $40k when compared to the $50k Tacoma?
