What can you tell me about all the crappy things wrong with the 2UZ or the IFS in that thing?

Ask @Speedytech7. 100 series guys will swear up and down the 2UZ is the best engine ever made.

Lol I know what his thoughts and opinions are on the motor; my question was directed at you.

What you've heard, what you've read, what you've found.

Plus, he prefers the 1UZ ten times over.

Honestly I don’t understand why they didn’t just put the 1UZ in the 100 series.

To me the most annoying part of the 4.7 is the starter location, and also it’s a PITA if you get the exhaust manifold tick, but apparently most of those have been fixed by now.

Apparently the 5.7 in the 200 series is even worse to work on though, especially for the starter, and also can towers, coolant valley leaks, radiators, KDSS, etc. I don’t even want to think about the new turbo 3.5s. Apparently techs don’t like that new engine at all.

I don’t know if any of you have seen this book before, but I’m trying to check it out from the library.

2UZ got the torks in the right place for a big SUV. 1UZ got them ponies for stretching the legs. Both are very good powerplants, IMO.

Our 100, at 250 something k miles, has the exhaust tick. Aint no way I'm spending any money to fix it.

In the battle for ugly front end domonance, it's a 2 horse race between every current Acura and every current Lexus. :blarf:

huh. speaking of the 2uz… i’m casually in the market for a gx470. Called a dealer about one they had posted. Only 140k miles, but they were sending it to auction because it needed so much work. Tempted to see if they’ll sell it as is…but if it’s that bad, the interior is probably ragged anyway.

Now there’s another one with 250k miles for only $7k. how bad could it be?

    Solid vehicle

Totally has the whole New Balance knee high dad socks vibe but I really enjoy driving mine daily

No. I know a lot, but I don’t know that much. I’m like a martian.

There's a removable 3rd row for all your surplus dad jokes

But yes, the glove compartment has a dedicated spot where one would normally put their owner's manual; in my case it's an empty void on account of my bad habit of putting owner's manuals in the house

So you’re the reason none of my vehicles ever have manuals when i get them. :burp:
