    you are almost there!!!

thats basically 3 weeks! you can do that standing on your head at this point.

just wait till that last nite before you retire: the enormity of it will hit ya then.

then the first day/nite of retirement: everything will look & feel different!

note: on the 2nd day of retirement my wife threw her new puppy in my lap & said "you got time, take care of this for me". that was the maddest id been in many years.

off to a slow start today. took a Flexiryl last nite before bed for the back. dang! im like a slug this morning. heavvy, slow & uncoordinated!

    I can confirm this.

I have always had a very difficult time with needles. It can take a few pokes for the person to finally hit the vein and get anything. One time, about 10 years ago, the person drawing my blood said "You are severely dehydrated!" I asked what she meant. She held up the vacuum tube/vial with maybe 1cc of my blood in it. She held it perfectly vertical. She said "Blood is supposed to run. Do you see how yours is just sitting there, not running down the sides of the vial? You need to go drink a lot of water right now and then we can try again in 20 minutes."

That sight scared me, and made a believer out of me. Now, I always start drinking tons of water at least a couple hours before I have to get blood drawn, and it has made a hell of a difference for me.

The night before was exciting but nothing beat walking out of my place of work for the last time. I took one look at the office and said to myself, "I'll never be back here again." :bananadance:Then, as I exited out the door, into the parking lot I thought, "I'm done working forever." The sun was never so bright, the air never smelled so sweet.

I asked to be sedated at the last one, it's just so much easier for a diabetic to not go all the way under. Nope, Dr. doesn't want any squirmin on the table. 10, 9, pretty light, Chumash casino. Apparently (I'm not sure this was all my idea) I got the wife to drive us up there. Lost my ash twice in one day . . .

First Christmas party of the year is tonight, another work department invited me, I declined. Going to wife's tomorrow night, but with the new boss, doesn't seem like there will be anywhere near the turnout, or fun. These used to be barn burners, with hosted bar. . .

I asked my manager if I could start winding down.

I really have no idea what that means but am waiting for his reaction

That’s gotta be a good feeling. My wife struggles with it, she really loves her job and the people she works with. But she has her days.:annoyed:

For me, winding down was passing responsibilities on to those who were going to replace me. With a few weeks left, your replacement shouldn't be high and dry when you leave. I had nothing to do my last day or two. I sat there saying my good-byes
