Hi everyone, I'm considering selling my 2005 Crew Cab TRD off-road. It's hit 210,340 miles and developed a major issue: a water leak in the #4 cylinder, leading to a warped block that can't be fixed. Repair options are costly, ranging from $9,240 for a used motor to $10,826 for a new block, plus $1,800 for frame repairs and $280 for front brakes.

The truck's exterior and interior are in decent condition, with some wear and minor damage. I'm debating whether it's worth investing $12,906 for repairs, as its value might not exceed $9,000.

I have an offer to sell it for $1,975, covering towing and title transfer. I still owe $1,500+ for diagnostic services (labor spent getting to the block and discovering the problem).

What do you think? Should I accept the offer or try selling it online? Your advice is appreciated!

Motor gone? AND rust? AND upside down after the repair?

Right I know! I was going to drive it until the wheels fell off, I guess the motor quit before that could happen. =)

Sorry to hear that. Yeah, it's not worth it. Liquidate it & move on to some other vehicle.

2005 and 2006 Tacomas are known to have faulty head gaskets that let go sometime in the 140-225K mile range, -ish.

(I don't remember whether the issue affects both the 4-cyl. and 6-cyl. versions of the engine during those years.)
