This time last year we were having our 3rd or 4th blizzard, was colder than a witch's tit.
    What a difference.

Wifey works in the Medical Field and took my truck Saturday morning for work. Upon inspecting my truck Sunday morning, I found that she left the Dome light on all night. :annoyed:

So, I started the truck and it drove fine. It started up today no problems. So far so good! I guess I'll need a newer battery sooner than later. Finally get to install my new SDHQ battery hardware :bikewheelie2:

Would you mind sharing the start of that trail. Google is not being my friend today. I'd love to take my vehicle for a little snow drive

It should shut off after 30 minutes even if left in the "ON" position (not door). But you can still use the excuse to upgrade the battery!

Sure - here is the route I took yesterday. Not a trail but scenic roads to enjoy especially in the snow.
Sante Fe (Hwy 85) to Sedalia.
West on Hwy 67 at the Wide Open Saloon.
West (bear right) at W Pine Creek Rd. at the Sprucewood Inn
North on N Platte River Rd
North on S Foxton Rd (uphill u-turn) to 285
East on Hwy 285 to the next exit
Right on Pleasant Park, which turns into High Grade Rd, which turns into Deer Creek Rd
Right on Deek Creek Canyon Rd
    Left at Wadsworth to 470.

Alternatively, instead of taking Foxton, go straight on N Platte River Rd till you reach Pine Valley Rd.
Right on Pine Valley Rd past Zoka's to S 4th Street
Right on S 4th Street to S Elk Creek Rd to Hwy 285.

Has anyone ever heard of it being so cold that the side springs of a garage door contract, and pull the garage door up just enough to initiate the safety feature of the motor and open the door fully?

The story is, 2 nights ago around 6pm we found the garage door open, checking out security cameras we saw no one coming or going. Sadly, our "smart garage" doesn't track how the door is open, remote, app, outside keypad, or wall button. It was only open about 12 mins before we closed it and we weren't 100% certain we didn't hit it by accident. Just to be safe I locked it which involves a handle sliding 2 bars into the tracks to prevent movement.

Anyway didn't use the door at all yesterday but when I checked the locks later last night, I noticed the bars were tight in the holes cute out in the track. Looked at the app and it showed a notification saying "stopped" at 3:30pm. Basically, saying it tried to open but the action was stopped/unable. Again, checked the cameras around that time frame making sure to take note of any cars or people on the street and nothing.

While all the checking I did noticed how ridiculously cold it was in the garage both nights AND the springs are definitely old, unsure when last they were replaced but I did swap the 1970 motor last year to a Q (smart opener). The plan right now is to reset/change the frequency to be sure too but was curious if there was something else going on here too.

We had a similar issue with Garage door opening with no one opening the door. We do not have a "Smart" opener however the issue you are experiencing may be similar.

What our electrician discovered was a failing breaker was the culprit. We experienced lights flicker that were on the faulty breaker. Also, the wall mounted door opener for the garage door was on the faulty breaker. Replacement of the breaker has resolved our random garage door opening issue.

It's possible. Garage door springs tend to stretch out over time though, which results in the door not opening all the way as they age. Those older extension springs you have are also sold in different weights, must be matched to the weight of your door. Is the door original or was it replaced with a lighter one?

It could also be that the "smart" opener is picking up frequencies that cause it to open. Everything is wireless, prolly some printer trying to connect to it.
Might be better off with a dumb one.

I've travelled for work for the last 3 years. Always used avis, Never had a single problem.
I came to Houston over Thanksgiving 23-27nov. And this is the biggest fucking nightmare ever.
First they dont send the receipt for over 10 days. because they lost it in their lot. at the airport.
Now they come back and are accusing me of tons of cosmetic damages for the vehicle 1100$ estimated.

    WTF

I bet it's something funky like this -- if it's a newer opener which uses rolling codes it shouldn't be suffering from external interference from other key fobs/openers/appliances

My garage door would open randomly but it was because someone's keypad or device was opening my door too :notsure:. We have one of those exteriors opening keypads. I took the batteries out of the keypad and it stopped. Since we didn't use the keypad, I just removed it altogether & never had a problem since removing the batteries

I think that's what they're going for. Luckily I took photos of pre existing damage. But they're stonewalling me

not sure without all the details, but maybe “purchase protection” or the credit cards provided supplemental insurance would kick in and the CC company would force them to prove the rental companies claim of damage?
