I’m soooooo mixed on shops like that. In one hand it’s awesome to buy a bottle you may never ever see at MSRP, but it also takes some of the fun out of it. I’m guilty of overpaying for a bottle that I just had to have, but now that my collection is bigger I think I enjoy the hunt more. I’m not knocking paying over MSRP for a bottle you want, but for me it would have to be really special at this point. I do appreciate these stores having cool things in stock and for sale just as much as I appreciate other stores selling allocation Bourbon for MSRP to the first person in the door. God i just love capitalism!!

Had I any clue about some of these, then maybe I walk out with the one bottle per person per day. I did buy a Redwood Empire Cask Strength last weekend that I wanted to try for $60. And I really enjoy Michters, all four varieties that I can get any day here in NM. I could have texted a friend or two and asked about the Michters if they were worth it. And I could go back tomorrow as well to see what they are keeping out to purchase now that the 12 day promotion is over.

And I also don’t mind paying a little more as well, especially since this is a locally owned shop. I try to support them a bit, although I don’t frequent them because they are about 45 minutes from me and I just don’t get to that area of town often. But @JoeySauce knows my collection has expanded since the beginning of the year :) ha!

I’ll be curious to hear what you think about that Remus Gatsby Reserve. Passed up a bottle at MSRP two months ago that I’ve been kicking myself over.

You’ve been trying to unload these bottles since what July? I’m not saying you can’t keep trying but those are just normal bottles that are easy to find. Unless someone lives on your block why would anyone go out of their way to find those? And at MSRP or higher? Idk if you found these and thought you could flip them for $1 profit or what but it might be time to just drink them and move on. Or tell me to F off and keep posting them. I don’t care lol. Good luck.

some okay prices, some that don’t make sense…typical for private shops, they don’t keep up with secondary pricing

Well, if you look at the pictures posted since July, they have not all been the same bottles. Unfortunately, my situation is that I have limited space for my open and collection bottles. I need to let some go to make space for new better bottles. The Larceny and the Bookers are not so easy to find since they are specific years. Not trying to flip. I am actually just wanting to get my money back, if possible. Most if not all my bottles I have tasted, these are the ones that have made it to the chopping block. I am more than willing to trade for other stuff such as golfing equipment, firearms, other bottles, cigars or even parts. I appreciate your concern for the matter. If you would like to help out, please offer a trade.

After consideration, hate to say it but I think you send it straight to Unicorn Auctions. Don't know how I could crack something like that and consume given the value. I don’t know how you liquidate something like that easily, and safely, in a private environment…other than by drinking it :). But others likely have good advice.

Yeah. I am so torn between sell it now, sit on it for a decade and check prices, or just write it into the Will.

What some people do with those super high dollar bottles is sell samples to recoup the cost (+ make some money) and keep the bottle and enjoy the remainder.

    Some lovely things arrived today.

Aside from an upcoming lottery…this is it for a long, long time.

100% moratorium for one year unless I run across Weller or Taylor at retail. And that’s that.
