Installed a new brakebooster and master cylinder i did bleed the new cylinder i compressed the piston in the back onto the booster ane connected my brake likes to master cylinder then i went to bleed my brakes but i started with the BPV first then when nothing came out after pressing the brake 6x and loosening up the bleeder valve i moved onto the left rear and so onto my front but after 30 min of nothing comingnout of the lines i called it a day.. seems like every time i go onto work on my truck since mechanic labor is so expensive i end up spending about the same bc nothing goes as planned. If you know something please lmk what can be going on

I don't have ABS (woohoo!) but on every car I have owned that did have ABS you could trigger the ABS pump so it can bleed properly. I suspect you need to do that. Otherwise you won't ever get the air out.

How much fluid did you loose while the MC was disconnected. I've replaced my MC and booster.. Didn't have an issue with the ABS.

Did you bench bleed the new MC?

I also cannot recommend the Motiv Power Bleeder and correct MC adaptor enough. They are such a game changer for bleeding brakes. I've had friends swing by on their lunch brakes to flush their brake fluid using the power bleeder. It's so easy, and the pedal feel is amazing.

Yes i bench bled the mc by filing it with dot3 and compressing the piston in the back onto a ledge untill there was a constant steen coming out of both brake line ports then i compressed it onto the booster and bolted up my line bracket on the mc and conected my brake lines idk if i did it right but thats how i did it the mc came with 2 caps to cap the mc off to bleed it

On some makes you can 'engage' the pump via software but these are pretty simple so I would guess it may need to be done by jumping a relay. But as I said, I am not familiar with Toyota ABS. I suspect it's what you need though.

Yep, the Motive is killer, and Marco (owner) is an old friend from BMW circles. Proper gear head and good dude. Worth the money especially for doing clutch slaves and cars that are notorious for being hard to bleed.

Sounds like you did everything right, it's gotta be the ABS unit that has some air in it. For tough bleeds I will take a wrench and tap here and there to try and disturb air that may be stuck in a corner. And if things are getting serious I will jack one end of the vehicle as high as I can get it. It's a game of tiny steps.

A scan tool can engage a bleeding procedure for the abs pump.

Good to know. I know on sone cars if you can run the ABS pump you can use it as a bleed tool, might be the same on these.

I haven't seen a definitive answer on how a DIY'er would activate the 1st gen ABS to bleed it in the last 20+ years of being a member of various tacoma forums.

I thought people just go to a non-paved road and stomp on the brakes several times to get the ABS system to engage and then top off the fluid. Maybe bleed again after the air has moved and hope that it’s out of the ABS pump.

That’s what I did except I used a grocery store parking lot.

Thats just it though- it always starts out as "jump some pins" / use a diagnostic tool, and turns into stomping the brakes on a dirt road. I would love to know an actual method for "jump some pins".

I long deleted my copy of the 1st gen FSM since I sold mine a few years ago. I suggest looking in there for the ABS system and see what it says in the section for the REPLACE/REINSTALL section of the ABS solenoid.

This is why I opted for the parking lot method
