I also ended up getting a DeeZee on Amazon and it seems very good to me. Seems about same quality as OEM, and maybe even better considering the track's on it are entirely vertical which help with cleaning out the bed. Was also only around $100 versus the $150 for OEM too.

I just (about a week ago) bought a new double cab long bed Tacoma. I was planning to buy an OEM bed mat right away, but now see that is not possible. I’m not really happy with any of the aftermarket options. If I bought a SB mat, would it fit up to the tailgate and leave a 1 foot gap by the cab? I think I could live with that. Have the OEM tonneau cover, which covers the front ~2’ of bed anyway.

I just got the Dee Zee DZ86964 heavyweight bed mat off Amazon for my '23. It is no worse than the OEM bet mat. SB mat sounds like a nuisance...

How about Synthetic grass? It’s cooler to the touch in the summer time especially if you park your truck in the sun. Maybe your local hardware might have a scrap piece for cheap.

Based on your recommendation, I went to the DeeZee site and confirmed the DZ86964 is the correct match for my 2023 Tacoma long bed.
This appears to be the same quality mat I have in my 1991 Truck that has lasted so very well.
Your comment about directing water and debris to the rear and not to the sidewalls has significant merit.
I have this mat on order from Amazon now.... thanks!

 i hope the quality has not degraded over the years. most likely it is the same. only issue i have with mine is it is heavy and my need for it is very small...so it sits in the garage most of the time and is easy to install when needed. for constant use, i'd be happy with it though.

My need is more simple: set and forget.
I've only had the mat out of my '91 a couple of times over 31 years.
Just long enough to hose out the bed, let it dry and toss the mat back in.

Amazon says it will get here in 4 days, so I will install and report back here.

Unless you are looking for one for a long bed. My 21 came with it. When my son bought his 23 long bed, we found that the OEM long bed mats were no where to be found. And I tried.

    used is usually cheaper

if not that then something thick
The OEM one is pretty thick and grippy

the problem is they seem to stay dirty even after cleaning
Like turn things black that touch it

bed rug is another good one
    Either full or semi size
but usually goes hand in hand with some sort of cover whether that be tonneau, shell, Softopper, etc

don’t know how they do exposed open
    But they are durable

another full truck bed mat from a bigger truck would probably work if cut down

That thick of rubber can be hard to cut though. OEM is. Boring holes to clear adding tie down hooks is a pain.

I ended up getting him this one:

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BCFKJWPN?ie=UTF8&th=1

works just as good as my OEM one.

My Westin mat is 3/8" thick and has held up fine over the years parked outside every day and has held down fine with no adhesive/etc. It was around $100 in '19 if I remember.

Find someone that has an electric tire knife. Makes quick work of the stall mat.
