I want stories of lunatic neighbors

People like that tend to spend their last hours in an unfamiliar room, alone and ignored.

 

100% accurate. most kids just need someone willing to give them some love and time!

heck, I've had a kid in the same school as my daughter now last day of school walk up to me, say my name to me, and not recognized by me and flat out said, "hey you probably don't remember me but I lived with you in your home for a while while my family had some problems. I just wanted to say thank you for loving on me while I stayed with you." kid was one of those closed off, hated everyone. kid does well, and ive seen him working with kids in the sports programs.

 

I understand the guy that walks away.

 

Have to admit I wanted this story to end with the jogger having to be carried home. Sorry for the loss of your dog.

 

My opinion is that it started when people could get student deferments from the draft and it became popular to slander anyone who wore a uniform.
Today some vets are demonized in divorce and juvenile courts as having "severe" PTSD and so were presumed to be a danger to children, spouses or both. PTSD became an offensive (in both senses of that word) legal weapon. Service became a bit of a red flag (for some, not all) when looking at child placement and adoption.

I hope that have not given myself a 30-day suspension; it has not been my intent.

Nah, with the other thread up about vets right now, I don't think that one is out of bounds.

 

Bought my house in 2016 - I was walking to the store and happened to meet my next door neighbor for the first time, just now.

He knew all about me and my life story already just from my comings and goings over the years, complemented me on my truck (which is in the garage at the minute), and said he had all the hot gossip on the former owner of my house as well as the neighbors.

Oh, Im definitely going to be talking more to this guy. He knows some stuff.

My neighborhood is in a weird stage of life where it is mostly retirees that like to window sit (but every once in a while someone who is still working age gets the opportunity to buy in, and that's just now starting to happen with ever increasing frequency). My favorite blurb of conversation was when he pointed up and down the street and said "you have four sets of eyes on you right now."

I mean, it took me a minute to realize that he was inferring how safe the neighborhood was because everyone knows everyone else, but still. It was hilarious.

 

I've got a few gossip neighbors. However, they never have anything positive to say about me behind my back. The one neighbor I do like fills me in on the neighborhood gazette. Some people have no life.

On the plus side the renters I posted about a while back have moved out. A new old fart has moved in. Drives an SR5 Tacoma too.

 

Seems like my neighbors got weirder during Covid. I have one neighbor that rarely comes outdoors. When she does it's primarily to walk her dogs, She wears a mini skirt type set up with combat looking boots. Sometimes she
puts ski goggles on her GSD when she walks him. My immediate neighbor refuses to trim his hedge that's right up against my fence, the last couple of days he's been cooking something on a small charcoal grill that smells like
old socks. Very strange people, I think they must belong to some sort of fringe church.
