I'm interested in the 0-60, 1/4 mile times especialy to see if the hybrid makes it worth it. Since it's not for MPG. But hopefully being a turbo all it will need is a tune to really crank it up. Maybe some utuber will do a full bolt on/tune and find the week spot.

Every review mentions how much better the driving experience of the new Tacoma is compared to the old one. The torque delivery is much earlier in the range and the transmission seems to be light years ahead of the old truck. It shifts better, rides better, handles better, goes faster and is quieter. It also has better interior technology. I think you’d notice those things.

Maybe comparing the Tundra will give us some idea. Looks like almost .5 faster in the 0-60 time but look at that 100mph time....The rest of the times look almost the same. Granted this is a limited vs a pro.

Just realized I can’t run my -10 volks without the truck looking like a goon with the +55 factory offset. May have to keep the turd till Rays gets on board, lol

I don't even know how much the hybrid cost, can't aspire to owning one if I don't know if I could buy one. Plenty of books and what not I could turn to for aspiration.

JDM and other wheel manufacturers are going to have to figure something out. I'm guessing wheels with out center caps won't look as cool as the large PCD hubs found on previous gens.

I don’t mind that I just mean the poke with that offset on this truck is gonna look dumb. Think a lot of guys are gonna be disappointed they can’t move over their wheels with negative offset without looking like a funny truck.

Yeah it's going to be something to get used to, not running an aggressive of an offset and going more conservative. 4x4 Engineering had some wheels that sit about flush with the wheel arch in the LC 300 and look pretty good. I do like the look of a 16x8 -30, but that won't work on the new truck.

-10 looks like the old -25 now, if it’s similar to the tundra which it appears, you need a +18 or so to achieve just a little poke

Slap an ARB logo on the side and bolt it to a bedrack, and then charge $430 :anonymous:

Early Gen4 trade-ins will love the shifting & acceleration. I’ll occasionally run an errand in my wife’s Wrangler 2.0T w 8spd; both vehicles weigh about the same, but by the seat of the pants, the Jeep is a lot more confident accelerating & shifting. You might even use the word, “revelation”. So, no contest there.

However….for a long-term relationship I prefer the V6 refinement over the turbo’s rush. At all times the Jeep reminds you that it’s only got four cylinders, and it’s running really, really hot. Granted that’s a Stellantis turbo, but I suspect a lot of Gen4 owners who trade their Gen2/3’s will reflect on those same thoughts a year or two after the honeymoon’s over.

I’m still interested in testing the hybrid.

Hear that a lot “improved drivability”.

What does that even mean? Have driven the Ranger, Bronco and Ecoboost F150s. Sure the low end torque is nice, but not like you’re racing out there on a day to day basis.

Daily driving is mind numbingly boring, try to make it exciting you’ll most likely get a ticket, loose your license or end up in jail. Last few days I have wicked it up a bit, to make the gawd awful commute somewhat tolerable, then remember oh yeah I had my license suspended for doing this shit, better calm my tits. And go back to being a law abiding obedient tax payer…

With my 3G, I get in, I drive it, seems to have plenty of drivability to me.

Being in a trophy truck would the commute a bit more exciting, 150 mph, ripping through fields, hucking canals, blasting through cookie cutter neighborhoods destroying perfectly manicured lawns, doing brodies in golf courses….otherwise what is the big deal? So the 4G is 10% quicker, great…so get to work a place I hate, 10% faster…great, just great…and since the 4G cost a lot more, have work even more. Fantastic!

Percentage wise, the increase in HP and torque on the Tacoma is a bigger bump than that in the Tundra.

The HP increase in the Tacoma is around 17% vs the Tundras 12%. The real kicker is the torque increase in the Tacoma is a 47% bump vs the Tundras 22% bump.

I’d theorize you’ll see a more dramatic difference from the hybrid in the Tacoma than that in the Tundra.

But will the juice be worth the squeeze? That is the real question.

Whether it’s a watch, a chair, or a Tacoma, when you enter the realm of “too expensive”, you are rightfully held to a much higher standard.

One mpg here, a half second there, speaker that pops out, all are better, but might not be enough to justify the ask. That’s the ongoing debate right now

Lol! With a kid on the way, a Tacoma wouldn’t be my 1st choice…wonder how long your wife’s Lexus will last with projectile vomiting, oozing leaky shitty diapers, mushy Cheerios between the seats…and that is just the tip of the iceberg!

I sure hope you keep us updated. :)

Agreed. And everyone will have to decide that for themselves. Then like everything else on this forum, proceed to tell other people why they are wrong for reaching a different conclusion. :D
