So…I have the tow package and have a factory cooler. But I bought a Mishimoto trans cooler. Seems to be a very nice product that replaces the original.

My question being- if I go ahead and replace the factory transmission cooler with the Mishimoto replacement, should I be worried about transmission fluid levels afterwards? Thanks!!!!

    This is the cooler:

Yes. In fact you should be concerned about the level even if you don't replace the cooler. That said, if you know the level is good just measure what comes out of the old cooler and add that much (or even that fluid) back to the tranny. Checking the level is pretty simple.

Yes, make sure you have some WS tranny fluid and know how to do the temp check before you do anything.

The new cooler may have greater capacity than stock, so you may need to add more than what drains out of the old cooler.

It might be a good time to do a drain & fill, since you'll be doing 80% of the work anyway, and your truck is almost 11 years old.

I’ve got 6qts of Toyota WS, and OEM filter and gasket. I’ve been lazily putting it off, but I guess now’s the time.
