I've gotten bracketless wipers for years. It's a basic necessity in the snow. For the past couple of years, I used the Anco Contour blades on both our vehicles. They lasted a year easily (and the last set on my truck probably could have gone another year after seeing how well the Bosch wipers work). This year, after all the people on the forums raving about the Bosch Icons, I went with the Icons. Big disappointment. I had to return one of them because it was leaving a 2-inch wide patch directly under the wiper arm attaching point where it just didn't seem to touch the glass hard enough. Returned it under warranty and got a new one. The new one is better. BUT, all 3 wipers (including the one I returned) leave small streaks even when brand new. None of the Anco blades I've used on both vehicles over the past few years did this. I'd say the new Bosch blades streak as much as my Anco blades did after a year's use. So I won't be buying Bosch ever again. My experiences with the Anco blades have convinced me which ones are better (and the Anco blades are even a couple dollars less).

FYI, I looked at also getting a 22-inch for the passenger side but decided against it. I already have a problem with snow buildup under that wiper when the snow builds and builds at the hood/cowl. So much so that the wiper usually ends up stopping a couple inches higher until I decide to stop and clear it. Adding another inch to the length of the wiper would only add more snow to the buildup. Why Toyota didn't offer the heated windshield like in the Highlanders, I'll never understand!

Thanks for the reply. So the defrosters don't do the job for you, you need the heated windshield ?

With all the snow , i usually get the wipers about 2 inches shorter than recommended.

the recommended size is great for the rain

but when you have a good snow fall its just a collector

and does nothing but pile the snow up on the side of the window.

I got vent visors to deal with the defrost setting. With the heavy Sierra Cement we get around here (very heavy, wet, sticky snow sometimes with flakes the size of your hand), it builds up fast. So I keep it on full defrost, max heat, and fan on high. To keep from overheating (me, that is), I crack the windows. The vent visors come in handy keeping the snow out of the cab. But even with the defrost as hot and as high as it will go on the windshield, it isn't enough to melt the snow on it. And the passenger wiper pushes a lot of it down where it builds and builds. So, yeah it would have been nice to have the heated windshield to melt it.

If one inch = 2 HP, he's claiming 16 hp in his pants. You do the math...

Wow ! Being from NJ, when I think of CA I think of LA where my brother lives. Pollock Pines, CA must be in a different world. Thanks for the info.
