Finally installed my center console safe. Definitely more convenient than the portable safe with cable I had been using. Decent price for $60 on Amazon. Took a tip from a reviewer by installing a magnet under the console lid to keep the safe lid in the open position while rummaging in and out of the safe. Just used hot glue for now to secure the magnet. IMG_20231216_115357794_HDR.jpg IMG_20231216_115421491_HDR.jpg IMG_20231216_115349934_HDR.jpg

Reflashed the ECU with a mild OTT tune for winter. Recent ice storms have made the linear torque curve a little unusable at medium. I've written a guide on how to use VF Tuner 2.0+ with the WiFlash dongle here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/...vCWDRN57d-Zw9brWKU6ufDUXXLSUUgYlYzJYbEol0/pub

Before you go down that rabbit hole, I suggest you ask yourself how many times you might need to re-tune your vehicle. If you think it's only going to be twice a year, just pay a licensed tuner to do it for you and go back to them as needed. The costs associated with a DIY option aren't worth it for someone who doesn't want to data log or someone who only changes tunes every major season.

Also note that the WiFlash dongle is not J2534 compatible meaning that you cannot use it with Techstream or other diagnostic tools unlike the Tactrix cable. If you want to use Techstream, I suggest buying a Tactrix cable and using VF Tuner 1.7.x if you want to DIY tune.

I looked those struts up on Amazon and it appears to me he has them installed correctly. That said, I'll admit that the angle doesn't look right.

This was my concern with the no drill options as well. Were I to get hood struts it’d be the vendor who does periodic sales on here and I’d buy the tool to install rivets. Redline I think is the company

Would you mind sharing the brand name? I can't find reasonably priced one on Amazon Canada. Thanks

Not bad for a Saturday, Bourbon run in the morning, Cleaned and primed Sliders and filler plates. Painted filler plates with bed liner. Probably Monday before I can paint the sliders.CD40ABE2-9578-4F7D-9A87-2832F77A32D4.jpg

What I’ve done: unsuccessfully attempted to install a controversial gas cap holder. Any advice on getting this bolt loose? PB Blasted and let sit overnight. Heated it up with a hairdryer. Won’t budge.

Finally success! Did 1 more round of PB Blaster and heat with a different screwdriver that fit slightly more snugly. Now I’ll have a beautiful scratch inside the gas door to remind me what an unnecessary bitch that was.

Don’t feel bad. I did the same thing and I have tried vice grips,pb blaster, and channel locks. I give up. Just stripped it out more. Sucks, it’s like it’s welded in

I legitimately thought somehow mine was accidentally welded on. Something I thought would take 60 seconds took 24 hours. I was worried I was going to strip it too.

Not the only unexpectedly tough screw. Another member (christian06) makes a tailgate-theft-deterrent brace, and installation requires removing one bolt. This is tough because it has reverse-oriented ratchet-teeth. Some people remove the tailgate first and put it on the ground so they can employ long breaker bars, along with heating it up and using PB.

I have those in my watch list, glad to hear the install was easy and that they work good. The idea of drill, paint and Tacoma gives me anxiety.
