Lemme fire up the wayback machine and I'll place an order for multiple Garands and 03s (not 03-A3s)
Throw in a couple of those S&W .45s with the half moon clips.

This ad is interesting regarding the rod/reel prices. A person back then could buy a firearm cheaper and today the prices on cheaper rod/reel combos is similar.

Those rods and reels were substantially higher quality than anything you get today.

I noticed that too. Interesting. I wonder what the value of mint condition vintage fishing gear is compared to the guns.

My Dad got into collecting military surplus firearms in the late’50s because it’s what he could afford as a college student. Now, anything WWI or II is beyond most casual collectors.

Too much, probably $1k in parts over what I paid for the gun, which was over MSRP :anonymous: because for some reason you can't seem to find the big boy x 357 in stock anywhere LOL

Here's a few I've been working on, got a leather sling and lever wrap for my 45-70...here's pictures of the Burris scout scope mounted
    IMG_2602.jpg

Tried my hand at wrapping the hand guard, wasn't too bad. Probably my first time I ever went into a Michael's craft store to buy some sewing needles
    IMG_2607.jpg

Turned out decent for my first time

Finished building this one last week, need to take it to the range to zero the optics
    IMG_2572.jpg

    IMG_2570.jpg

Went with a vortex 5x prism and holosun 509T on top, used EGW adapter...seems to fit ok but time will tell how well it works for practicality of shooting

That wrap is very cool! Looks great with the sling. I got a used Burris 3-9x50 a few months ago. Incredible glass for a decent price. Nice build. You should put up a range report as soon as you get it out.

I bought the materials to polish the 1980s Redhawk I just bought. I was just going to leave it alone, but I might give polishing it a shot over the winter.

I'll have to wait a year or so to financially recover from all the crap i got this year. Plus kids are expensive, lol. Got to start thinking about vehicles for the 13 year old. Thought about the giving him my truck, but dont really look forward to it getting totaled, lol.

Like that 45-70 too, but not the price of the ammo. Think i will have to go with the .357, least for the first one.

Has anyone used an online site to sell a shotgun in Colorado? I’d like to get more from it than the dealer offered. I wish we could sell person to person here.

Yeah, there is also a 3 day waiting period now as of 10/31. Get this - if I find a seller online and use a local FFL and the buyer doesn’t pass the background check, I have to go through another background check. If I fail I forfeit the shotgun.

Sell it at a gun show or on guntrader. Unless you're selling high dollar unique/collector stuff, doing it through an FFL doesn't make much sense.

Thanks, didn’t know that site existed. Still requires an FFL though.

Ah. I had no idea CO implemented a state private sale background check requirement.

I love the quiet zen of reloading. Clean… Size… Prime… To me it’s equally as fun as unloading it. IMG_0793.jpg
