Yea I have bought/sold dozens of things. Sometimes it’s gets a littler weird but usually fine.

Not Fox, it’s the DVO build so the new Topaz. I got frustrated this morning and tore it apart. It took me an hour and a half to get the damn shock out. I think I got some new/old stock, that shock hadn’t moved in a long time and they did not grease the shock bolt when it was assembled. I got the shock out, but it took some force to move that sleeved bolt! Anyways, I took it apart, it’s all cleaned up. I put it back in, same thing, ridiculous sag at the proper pressure. I pumped it to max pressure, it became a rigid shock. I let the pressure off slowly, once it got below 200, sag city instantly, but the noise went away. I pumped it up again to the max, it had a little more give. Went down to proper pressure and now all seems right in the world. So F it, I’m going to run it and see what happens.

 

i think it's at least worth contacting fezzari or dvo. sounds odd.

 

So I'm kinda curious of conversation and what invoice looks like.. I've never heard of someone paying an invoice for a part on a private sale.

Anyways, that's terrible, I had someone ask me to prepay using Venmo and I just immediately disregard.
Scammers everywhere.

I contacted Fezzari, they invited me to submit a warranty claim, on a bike I had for less than a day…. I’ll call DVO on Monday, they’re actually pretty easy to work with.

 

The invoice was issued from PayPal.

I traded multiple messages back and forth on PB with very specific questions about steer tube length and seatpost. When I asked for a PayPal address he asked me for my email and said he would send an invoice from Payapl (which it was) but this should have been a red flag for me. I was working off my phone so when I went into PayPal, it looked legit on my end but I didn’t dig much.

Almost immediately after I paid he texted me asking for my address. Then he asked me for a screenshot of the PayPal transaction. This is when all the alarm bells went off. I refused and said I’m canceling the transaction.

Im trying to work it through PayPal and trying to get the account taken down from PB but no results yet.

 

how in world are they getting an account that is "member sicne 2015"? sounds like either pb got hacked or their API isn't locking that down. :awkward: the "1 followers" seems to be of suspect these days.

might be worth posting to their profile at least to warn others?

 

Sending an invoice from paypal is not unusual. Especially if it's a business selling, which looks like it is based on the pics. If you logged in and paid, you should be covered by paypal. Or are you saying it was a fake invoice and payment was processed outside of paypal?

 

After I dug into it more, PB was hacked earlier this year. Those usernames and passwords are probably just now starting to get used.

 

This is my hope! It’s kinda a generic invoiceand just said “goods” so we will see. Fingers crossed but at least I can help pass on the info to others since I know a lot of us use PB to buy/sell.

Pinkbike is turning into Craigslist and marketplace garbage. Almost just as bad.

their customer service isn’t great either. I had a guy mark my account as a spammer because I listed a bike at priced to sell. Never even messaged me. My account was down for weeks. Then it was labeled as a scammer for weeks and I had no idea. Finally got it fixed but good grief.

Nice to list bikes nationally and I sold one last week but it’s awful. I’m almost going back to local only.

 

I hate selling stuff but I've had some stuff on there recently. Sold most of it already no problem. Pretty easy to spot the bots and there have been a bunch of them. "I am very interest in your item."
