TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

That was my other thought! On my Vortech Supercharged G35 I fabbed up an intake that comes right off the blower as opposed to the filter that sits right on the blower and he stared at it a while before passing me!

 

Cams are in and the break in procedure is done. Test drive soon to come and then some data logging.

Indeed it can. @9kfever this is what I have stuck on my TRD airbox. It has "visual" appeal and if you read the details of the EO#, it would take someone with intimate knowledge of the two different generations of TRD intakes to know what is what. https://arb.parts/Executive-Order/D-425-54




So yes, like @steezinstangl said, the TRD Gen1 intake could be CARB legal. Just get the sticker and the TRD lid for the airbox.

 

na, dont get the momentum is messes with the maf signal and cause driveability issue. the og trd/afe is the way to go.

can't you tune it away? I never noticed any issues with drivability, but @JustDSM also tuned my taco for it. I swapped from the Volant to the AFE. Did a comparison of the two and the AFE seemed to have much better flow design

I haven't been able to keep up... I think you just got the blower installed and sorted.. and now a 5/6sp trans swap?

 

on my truck, you could not despite multiple attempts with the momentum. once i swapped to the og afe did the driveability issues go away.

 

I think prerunner > 4x4 conversion

i havent had a problem of that kind. not to say it couldnt, but ive had no issue.

 

Those part numbers are the latest TRD intakes...

 

Anyone have a 1st gen intake to sell? Or even the lid.

 

What do you mean by driveability issues? I have the momentum and am having some issues with cold starts.

 

Thanks buddy! Buddy at work is going to rebuild and regear it for me, all the parts including the transmission came off a truck with half my miles so I got lucky especially with him being local I could pick it up

 

So unfortunately I'm still having some issues on cold start. Truck will take three attempts to startup after a cold morning but will startup quickly when warm and drives awesomely.

So far I have replaced my serpentine belt and put in a new AGM battery. New belt took care of the burning rubber smell (there was some sticky residue on the previous belt I hadn't noticed before). Thought the issues were fully resolved and celebrated too early. Where else should I look? Running the TRD tune with AFE Momentum cold air intake. Upgraded my gas tank pump already and ran it for a while without issues before the supercharger upgrade. Appreciate any suggestions!
