I once had a sales guy yapping while I was test driving a 3rd gen Tacoma tell me the JBL sound system also upgraded the horn on the truck...
A few actually know their stuff, but most I just internally laugh at the things they say

It’s crazy how trucks use to come with just a bench seat and ride like absolute shit. Now we expect them to be as comfortable as a Cadillac and handle like a super car.

For what they cost and how important they are to all manufacturers, they should damn near be perfect. Sorry, but I am not paying these prices if I am not happy.

I couldn't drive a new Tundra if it were free. The seats are that bad and the new Sequoia was just as big of a disappointment with the same plywood seats, frame and powertrain. $60-$80k for these things is laughable.

FWIW, I drove a new F150 FX4 supercrew a few months back. Seats weren't as bad, but handling was just as poor. I will say the FX4 suspension rides better than the TRD Offroad suspension on the Tundra, but not by much. It's comparable to the SR5 Tundra's suspension, but the SR5 rides a little nicer.

Despite the shortcomings of the 3rd gen Tacoma (lack of power, terrible auto transmission shifting), I still think it's a better truck. Would I buy another 3rd gen Tacoma? Nope.

I'm interested in the 4th gen Tacoma, but likely will jump ship to another brand. :burnrubber:

I test drove a platinum and I totally disagree with the lack of comfort. I drive a 3rd gen , everything is more comfortable then those

At ‘23 prices heck I seriously couldn’t care less if there’s an uneven panel gap coming out of Baja. Most just call that “character”.

At ‘24 prices & markups, first brave souls poking their heads out of the trenches might want to consider forming a class-action group if they observe a loose stitch in the SofTex or the auto tailgate pinches their Goldendoodle’s tail.

Was quite impressed with the Tundra, drove like a car to me. Could get used to that very easily. The F150 wasn’t terrible, but definitely feels more truck like, the rear leafs you always get a weird buck out of them every so often. The Tundra was surprisingly smooth. Loved the seats too, drove the SR5 (cloth) and TRD (softex)

My butt dyno might be different though, spent years in my brick riding 1G, and spend a lot of time in F350s going down FS roads, good lord those are awful ridewise.

My butt gets numb on long drives, that's about my only real complaint. Little extra cushioning would be nice. My wife's 2020 Rav4 XSE has really nice seats.

Lexus does have a 472 HP 5.0 V8 up their sleeve, the last new V8 they will ever sell. :(
My dream garage is probably one of these and the new TRD Pro Tacoma.

I don’t experience that, can drive 10-12 hours straight no problem. Don’t really do 20 hour bombs run anymore though like we used to. That much time in a seat is going to make you hurt no matter what.

The TRD RAV4 we had for a bit had heated and cooled softex, those were nice. She is always cold, I run hot. Those would be nice to have. Unfortunately they are tied into a high trim package, too cheap to pay for them.

Well yes, considering we were supposed to all be in hover cars by now it's the least we should expect.

Regarding “driving experience”, the improvement from G1 to G2 was *huge*. If I drove over a small pothole in my 1997 G1, the ass end of the truck felt like it kicked up and out from underneath me like a donkey, which was an unsettling feeling. In my 2009 G2, a pothole results in nothing more than a dull “da-dunk”.

Curious to see how the G4 ride compares to my G2.

I haven't seen any comments about the turn radius from youtubers (haven't watched much either). It is now worse than the 2nd gen Frontier, which it was much maligned for.

What caused the turn radius to increase?

Dunno. Maybe combination of longer wheelbase, wider track, larger tires/wheel offset and switch to electric steering assist.
