Best thing to do is shorten the stroke to 1". I shortened mine with my LT setup and ran around 150psi, but rarely noticed hitting them

2" bumps off the LCA don't really work well on these trucks

Edit: if you don't want to shorten them, I'd try around 80psi, because the pressure ramps up considerably in a short space

This is what I would suggest as well. I’d go as far as to say shorten to 1” and drop pressure but definitely at least do one of them.

    Cool, thanks guys.
I think I’ll try dropping the pressure to 100 right now, and see how that goes.
Shorten then if I still don’t like it !

    Stock-ish
I still have mine at 2” stroke but have them mounted pretty far out, just upped the pressure to 185 from 150. Makes up for no shock tuning lol, will eventually tune shocks and de stroke the bumps.

The high motion ratio of an IFS makes this a common topic. Typically bumps are mounted pretty far inboard on the arm so they engage way to early. I prefer to shorten them so they engage in the last few inches of wheel travel.

On the topic of shortening bumps, any suggestions on the best way to get the retaining clip that holds the seal cap in place in and out when the stroke is shortened?

I had a hell of a time having room to get it in place with about a 1.2" stroke and have no idea how I'll get it back out when I want to open them again. It was super tight between the wiper cap and body to reach in with the clip when the seal cap pushed down to get the clip in place.

Is there a way to remove the shaft end that I might be missing?

It takes finesse and it's not necessarily easy. I have found that it's helps to purge the trapped air multiple times throughout the process.

Anyone have a part number for the King spacer to destroke from 2" to 1"? What about oil volume recommendations, for the 2" compact bumps specifically?

King uses an aluminum spacer on their bumps that takes up more volume. Not sure of the PN.

Fox used to use a steel spacer that would take up less volume. Might make shortening the bump easier. PN 233-00-046-B.

Unfortunately no. Volume will change depending on what spacer you use.

I just used a piece of scrap steel tube I had and cut to length. I believe it was 1.5x.180 tube, but I could be wrong. for oil volume, just add enough that it doesn't hydraulic lock at full bump and thats all you need to do. they are just emulsion shocks basically, so you can fill it with oil, put it all together, then remove the valve core and just compress the bump all the way, and that should leave you with the exact right amount of fluid inside. Just don't look down the hole when you compress the bump or you'll get an eye full of oil.

Thanks, thats kinda what I figured was involved but thought there might be some more scientific way to do it!

5 years in with a piece of pvc for my limiting spacer. Haha. But good advice on the oil level.

The oil can shoot surprisingly high! (If your face isn't in the way)

I have 1.5 120 wall limiting mine it is pretty tight to the shaft.

The first time I was trying to purge air out of a shock after opening it the bleed holes shot oil right in my eyes and that stuff stings. Now I understand why people cover them when cycling the air from under the piston haha
