It's not clear how Bulb America can sell those so cheaply, but they are the best priced domestic source when available. They seem to sell out often. Headlight Services (the harness maker) also sells them domestically, but they cost quite a bit more. Helpful source though when the bulbs seem to go though periods of not being readily available domestically.

I just ordered another set to have in stock. I also keep a spare one in my glovebox for an emergency change.

It's not that difficult. Take the grill off and you can get to most of it. There's one bolt on the side that is a bit of a pain to reach and you'll have to get it from the wheel well.

For those running the harness in the USA, what are the recommended bulbs? I learned my lesson running with a single headlight the past week as I wait for my powerbulbs order, and wouldn't mind something whiter for road use. Also any recommendations for stock foglights on a 2012 sport?

Osram 100w/90w Super Brights are the best thing on the market for halogen setups with the harness.

Don't run those upgraded bulbs without the harness. Their current draw is higher than stock and could overheat the stock wiring - not safe.

thoughts on kioto h4 5x7 housings? i've got a set from my imported mr2. thinking about tossing them on my 95 taco. the 95 has some cibies. but they're.... worse for wear due to the previous owners neglect to put the boot on.

Just did this to my ‘07 yesterday. Man what an improvement in looks (bought it with some crappy LED units on it) and function. Couldn’t have been easier with the excellent write up here and the instructions from the Headlight Services harness.

Did you have trouble with the headlight services website? I can’t click on “add to cart” for the harness because it’s behind all the text on the page.

I’ve not tried them and have no data unfortunately to provide meaningful feedback. Koito is a Toyota OEM bulb supplier, so I’d expect them to be at least decent. Supposedly some of the newer Cibie halogen products are not as good as the older ones, as the dies have worn and there isn’t good reason to re-invest in new ones to make halogen lamps when everything is going LED. So replacing Cibies with the same might not have the best performance.

I can’t even find cibies available. The ones I have are from the mid 2000s. Just been missing the boots for god knows how long so the insides pretty corroded

If on Android with Chrome, use the 3 dots top right, scroll down inside the drop down menu and click the box next to" desktop site."

That should also rearrange the website and bring it in as if you're on a desktop computer. I've done this on other websites with success when you can't see a button when using your mobile phone.
