I'll freely admit that the skewp is one of the reasons I bought my Tacoma Sport. Combined with the color matched flares etc. I think it is the coolest looking of the mid-sized trucks. Add in the fact that I like Toyotas in general, and don't off-road, buying the Sport was an easy choice. The 4WD capability of the Sport is plenty sufficient to handle our snowy winter roads and my mildly sloped driveway.

People bag on the skewp because it's "non-functional". At least in my case they are wrong. Every time I walk up to my truck it makes me happy because I think it looks cool.

I’ll give you that the only thing dumber than a non-functional scoop would be a functional scoop. Imagine having a forward-facing inlet hole in your hood, on the wrong side of your radiator, pressurizing your engine bay so your rad stops working as the truck picks up speed, and filling the engine with dust, mud, water, leaves, snow, and whatnot? I’ll take the non-functional scoop anyday.

If you end up with the Sport, get the Harrop E Locker. Mint not to have to put the truck in neutral when needed. Push and GO.

For the people whom say the hood scoop blocks view, while offroading. Shouldn't be driving in the first place.

I'll play the flip side here. Buy a sport and add an air locker. Instant engagement vs fiddly factory e locker. I bought a sport simply because I could get an offroad in a dclb here in canada

A lot depends on budget. If you have the scratch doing an air locker is nice because you’re not pigeon holed into 4lo only, you have on-board air, and you can do a re-gear while you’re at it. It’s not a cheap project but adds a lot of capability to your vehicle.
