It's going to stop after Christmas, because I'm gonna get job at pizza place until all of the bureaucratic bullshit with Home Depot is squared way; I looked it up, and there's at least one pizza place near me that reimburses drivers for mileage put on their vehicles! I have put 5,000 miles on my truck in two months, which is not unheard of for me during the summer, but the difference is that summer driving is almost entirely highway; I'm good at delivering food, I refuse to work at a grocery store or a Walmart, and I don't know what else to do. I qualify for unemployment benefits since I got laid off, but unemployment is proving to be more of a pain in the ass than it is worth. It is much less than I expected, and I am expected to show proof that I am looking for a job every week. The problem is that I already have a job lined up. I could qualify for social security disability benefits if I really pushed hard, but I've always made too much money to qualify, and I refuse to accept handouts from the government. Between my 401(k) from NAVMAR, a CD account that I regularly add money to, and savings bond that is set to mature next April, I have decent savings; I just can't touch those savings right now and really don't want to even if I could. Therefore, I am DoorDashing and spending most of that money on truck maintenance, a Christmas present for my girlfriend, and food.

The majority of the people I deal with are fine, but occasionally I run into a monumental jerk like the chick at Primo...

We have a pizza place called “Little Ceaser’s”
They have 2 delivery cars the works use.

I could probably get a job there, but I’m not sure I want to rely on minimum wage and the generosity of other to pay me a “living” wage.

I’m in Lowe’s so much I think I know more than most of the employees about what stuff is, and what it’s at.

I've made over $500 since last Thursday, between DoorDash and Uber Eats; I'd like to say that I've spent like $150-$200 on gas. Back when gas was cheap, it hardly ate into my profits at all, but I temporarily retired from DoorDash when gas prices went past $4 per gallon for regular.

Also, I did DoorDash and Uber Eats really aggressively this weekend because I didn't want to dip into my savings for some work the truck needed, and I didn't want to ask my parents.

Amanda has paid for two oil changes and numerous fillups this year because I drive her around; I have easily spent over a thousand dollars, of my own money, on truck repairs and the oil changes that Amanda didn't pay for.

Also, a year of monthly payments on a new Tacoma would probably add up to about six grand at today's interest rates; I've put over $1,500 of my own money into the truck this year, not including oil changes, insurance, and getting the grille repainted.

Over $550 for a new radiator...
Over $300 for the sway bar links that rusted out...
Approximately $745 for electrical work to the HVAC system...

These are some pictures from an Uber Eats order at the Acme supermarket in Doylestown that I forgot to post. The pics are from last Tuesday, and the groceries were going to a townhouse in Furlong, right around the corner from my parents' old neighborhood. I made over $13 on the order, which is seriously not bad at all for Doylestown to Furlong!

Could you use a utility box in the bed for days you do DoorDash?

I actually do have one that I got from a coworker for twenty bucks back in 2018, but it takes up a lot of space, and it's been sitting in the storage area under my back deck since before COVID...

There was a time when I would avoid most Asian places altogether while doing DoorDash because the COVID paranoia on the part of the owners and employees was through the roof, and let's not forget the place in the Montgomeryville area where they wouldn't even let you in without checking your temperature (the only reason I didn't flip shit is because they had an attractive Asian woman checkin temps).

I showed up at this sushi place to pick up a DoorDash in Bethlehem yesterday afternoon, hoping for a public bathroom because I had to pee, and found this...

This place was clearly a sushi bar that could accommodate a couple dozen patrons at a time prior to COVID, but for whatever reason they are still living in fear. On top of that, it took like ten minutes after they arrived for them to finish the order, and the staff barely acknowledged me. If you look closely, you can also see that this place has a public restroom that was once open to the public in a different lifetime...

I saw this relic from a bygone era at a shopping center in Quakertown while picking up an Uber Eats order yesterday; I genuinely miss PetValu!
