What my wife likes and would love to own is the Jaguar XKR, which would be no comparison to a Vette in the looks department, but will she never own a "British" vehicle while I'm alive.

I've been running the Hikari 12000lm LED bulbs for just over 3 years now. One is now going out and wanted to know if there are better options. From reviews it seems most people are still happy with them. They worked better than factory and over all I was happy with them. Only downside I experience was the cutoff line was not as crisp as I would have liked.

Are Hikari still one of the best options?

Mine apparently only cared about how much trash the passenger floorboard could hold.

So for those following along, I spent a bit more, and got a team Associated 1/10 Short Course Truck! Hell, I'm super excited.

Anyone familiar with alternator ratings? There is a Denso “105A” alternator for a Suzuki that can be coaxed in to a first gen (stock is 60-80A). Is that rating peak or at idle? A local alternator company sold me this as a direct replacement for the Suzuki unit, but the description on the test sheet says 80A… Looks like 80A at approximately engine idle speed and close to 105A at cruising speed (report is at alternator RPM, not engine RPM).

Is this a comparable unit or lesser than? Seems like lesser but just want to make sure I’m not misunderstanding before I return it. Thank you!

I really appreciate that man, I'm hoping to be back on the right track sooner rather than later- so fingers crossed that it won't even be necessary by after new years.

It doesn't make any sense to pull the front skid to replace the front diff fluid and then put the old one right back before replacing the skid set, so I'm thinking roll those together. And then brakes can be a separate day, and wheels a separate day. Maybe I'll hit you up to help out with one of em.

I do need to get the recovery points powdercoated though. I think those go under sway bar bolts so that'd go on when the skids are off.

I just ended up returning it and ordering the Denso, I like supporting local businesses but no sense in not getting exactly what I want.

For those not in the meetup thread, some of us west valley folks are going to get dinner Wednesday evening. Only sharing here because not everyone knows about the meetup thread. I only learnt about it a month ago.

Bought a daily, so now get to mod my truck. If you had to do it over again, what would your setup be? Bumper, winch, suspension (fox 2.5), skids, roof rack is what I'm looking at.

Hmm. I waited long time before doing my mods so had the luxury of watching others go through multiple changes and learn from them. While the build is still ongoing I will add my .002 on suspension.

With that said I'd stick with the Fox 2.5FRS DSC front rear with RXT leaf packs. One thing I'd do differently is get them from accutune to have a better valving set up from the start. Not that it's bad just as is much of the adjustable range(stiff side) is not going to be used so having some diet softer availability to replace the stiffest settings would be nice.

Priced out a new one as close to my 2018 factory options as I could. TRD Offroad premium package.

Dont forget your tires too. But yeah keep it simple and spend more money on the better parts up front.

Yup I've decided to keep and build my 18. In addition to regular mods planned GFC, more armor, front bumper etc. I'm also planning on refreshing it along the way. Swap in the newer 3rd gen led headlights prob replace the beat up black fender trim in the next couple years. Get a new head unit to add Android Auto etc.

Honestly, comes down to how you're planning on using the truck and what works for one person won't work for the next. My recommendation would be to just start using the truck and see what you want to do, where it's lacking, and then you can research more specific things. For example, I bought this 4runner and wanted to immediately throw a lift and some 33s on it and blah blah blah but after going on a few camping trips, it does great as-is with some +1" AT tires. I'm just going to leave it alone for now since it works well for what I need.

Are you doing a rear bumper with swing out? Just asking as your rear view mirror will become useless depending on your configuration. We added all the glass to our GFC but still couldnt see out the back. Finally just added a rearview mirror with a camera.
