Thanks for that, now if I could only get something for our white Kia that is delaminating paint like it's a snake shedding skin!

I couldn't say for sure, but there's the Bull Run light thing near me. I can't remember what it costs to drive through, but it's a fun time.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
Just in case this is on your Christmas list, apparently CVS can help. You might even get 10% off.

So coming up on my 30K service. I have been using Sheehy out in Stafford. Any recommendations for that? I'm up in Arlington and any idea on price?

I live in a complex and cant really do anything on my truck in the parking lot without some issues from a nosy neighbor....

I've been using Undisputed Auto in Sterling for my non Land Cruiser stuff.
They did a major service on my LS400, including timing belt.
They'll work on pretty much anything. I've sent my beaters and old muscle over to them.
    Good peeps.
And they will use customer-supplied OEM parts. I handed them a box with $900 in maintenance parts from Longo for the LS service.

I used Koons Arlington Toyota for the first like 50k miles while I lived in Arlington. As far as dealers go they were fine, no complaints really. I used auto stop in falls church/baileys crossroads one time to mount tires, they were cool but I don't remember what their pricing was like. I never used them for regular maintenance though.

Didn't go. Drive through the mall to keep the crawler creds while headed somewhere else. Reviews are much more positive than negative.

Anyone had anything powder coated locally recently? Is NV Coatings still the go to?

I used them earlier this year for PC on set of a 5 old Land Rover wheels. Minimum prep work required. Just some sanding.
Excellent work. Good communication. Mounted and balanced tires good enough for a solid axle SUV. Can't say if it was any better than that.

Had been using ASCO in Manassas for years. Didnt like the last couple jobs they did for me. Hence the switch. And they can't handle tires.

ASCO lost a couple of good people over the last few year and the quality declined some. If I remember correctly, the owner was trying to focus on bigger projects like art sculptures and restoration and move away from the small jobs. My friend was there for years as project manager. He did some really cool jobs over that time.

Awesome, thank you. I would be powder coating wheels, too. There's a good bit of surface rust, though. Wondering if they'll require blasting beforehand (adding to the cost).

Blasting should be part of the prep. And an epoxy primer before the actual powder.

I had assumed that would be the case, but you know what they say about assuming...

They got back to me pretty quickly with what seems like a very reasonable price, at least compared to buying new wheels.

I will report back once they're done.

I hesitated to even write the reply! Given my friend worked at ASCO, I'm pretty sure I got a different level of service. NV Coatings has been around for years, so that should count for something. Wouldn't mind seeing the results. I have a few things I need done.
