What is the best cold air intake system for 2018 Tacoma? 3rd Gen
Also, need the roof drip molding strips. What is the part number?
Is it 75552 and 75553?

Avoid the short ram style, its stupid noisy and awful at highway speeds.

the OE has been doing good for me, and a couple million others
I am not anti here; just realize the only gains are noise,,, and if you want that throaty growl,, then rock on!

 

OEM is fine, it's not a restrictive intake system like on other platforms and is already a CAI. There are gains to be had, just not necessarily in the power department. I replaced the accordion tube and filter and inlet on mine and am very pleased with the results.

You can just buy HPS 1500-67 Intake tube and OEM intake flow accelerator. Your stock intake is cold air just like all on modern vehicles.

I would keep the paper filter, oiled filters are garbage.

 

Junkhead and Drizzo hit that nail on it's head. The only difference between the TRD CAI and the non-TRD CAI is the intake flow accelerator which you can buy for $30. It's an easy install. Just remove your intake housing (top portion and the base) and replace the stock flow tube with the intake accelerator. Takes like 15 min.

 

I think the TRD box is slightly bigger but the walls are thinner. IMO, less insulated.
Thanks to T.W. I just swapped the accelerator and saved myself several hundred dollars.

 

Check this out-it’s cheaper than the HPS silicone. I plan to buy the K&N tube and the TRD air flow accelerator and run it with a standard paper element.

They are rubbish, don't waste your money. They do absolutely nothing except make noise. Zero performance gains.

The TRD CAI plus the TRD exhaust sounds really good together. Compared to my 4.3 V6 ZR2 the Toyota system has a tight, balanced sound where the GM engine just sounds like it's huffing loudly.

Save the doubloons in a supercharger fund instead

 

Keep the stock intake. I just removed a K&N and replaced it with OEM. I argue that the truck drives much better now. The cabin is significantly quieter and I can freely floor it without having my ear drums blasted.

A real cold air intake with ram air benefits.
But really the factory intake already pulls from the fender. Most aftermarket kits looks fancy but offer no benefit if not actually worse performance than stock
