    Hello, friends.

(I spent some time in the 2nd gen forums and couldn’t find this already answered, so I apologize if it is a repeat.)

I would like to add off road lights (pair of cubes or bar) to my front end, but am required to run a front plate.

I want something understated or I’d just run spot cubes on ditch brackets.

I’m thinking either 3” cubes on either side of the plate or a bar behind my grille. I am having a heck of a time finding brackets for behind the grille.

    What have y’all done?

    Thanks.

you could not run the plate or move it

lights can be put anywhere there are holes
    or Make new holes

ditch or roof would probably be easier
    And fog upgrade

center grills are there to intake air to the engine bay and can get hot
Doesn’t sound like the best place to put lights

    I hear ya.

I don’t want to move the plate because there’s already holes in the bumper when it’s mounted.

Morimoto amber fogs are already on the list.

I might do ditch lights eventually, but with the truck completely stock, I don’t want to do that yet. I think it’ll look off with a bone stock truck with ditch lights.

I drive a Chevy 1500 with ladder rack and canopy all week, I don’t want a roof bar that’ll whistle the same.

ok, so morinoto fogs and a possible headlight upgrade one the horizon, I guess.

realistically, I have a light bar and a pair of cubes on the work truck and haven’t used them a ton yet.

    thanks.

    the holes are small
used front bumper cover is ~$50, nothing of value to worry about
they can be patched and touched up over, stock paint isn't fancy and hard to match
or have small rubber pieces put there

supposedly Diode Dynamics has the best fog upgrade
ditch lights would look like a work truck. Only concern is theft
not much else can angle them towards a ditch, depending on what intended use

if you're looking at headlight upgrade, a cheap good one is
    good housings, bulbs, possibly harness

I saw the diode dynamics amber fogs.

    good to know.

    I’ll look into headlight bulbs.

    much appreciated.

is there a better way to interact with the forum than a browser? iPhone app? I couldn’t find one.

    thanks.

I’d just do a good set of ditch lights and you’ll probably be set. I use rigid dually ss

it’ll look fine on a stick truck

Put a bull bar on the front and mount them on top of the bull bar. I mounted mine on the bottom and the license plate is still visible.

I bought a plate bracket from member ACEkraut (great product and service!) and I mounted my light bar with Cali Raised hidden light bar brackets. I agree, I didn't love the idea of plugs. I used some touch up paint on them, and they were still a little ugly. (At the time, having a recessed/hidden light bar was more important to me than unsightly bumper plugs.)

Eventually when I needed other paint work, I had my body shop clean up the holes.

You can also use your existing holes in the bumper, but use the bottom holes in your license plate instead of the top. I've had mine that way for years to make way for my 2in receiver.
