Joined the lunar rock club this weekend. First time Toyota owner. Lots of firsts for me with this truck- first small truck, auto tranny, short bed (six foot bed), four door and six cylinder. I have always had F250's, so really stepping out of my comfort zone. After two days of driving, I am very impressed with the truck. Put studded tires on it, and have been driving around in 2WD with four inches of fresh snow. My Super Duty would have to be in 4WD most of the time. I am thinking once I get used to having just two pedals, I am going to really, really enjoy this truck.

Yeah I’ve heard a few people have had that issue with the AAL, but I don’t want to go for a pack unless I need to. Would like to avoid a block if possible, but we do what we must! Trying to compile a full list of the parts I need to order, feel like I’m always missing something haha!

I feel that— I eventually want to upgrade to at least the full leaf pack like the RTX but the ride’s been great so far. I’ve taking it a handful of times wheeling already and I’m a happy camper.

    Congratulations!

    - You must be the last guy to get an LR! (because of the far delivery point!)

I joke, but the end of the road must be pretty much here for LR Tacos now...

It feels like I am the last guy. Been trying to get one since Sept. Had one that was supposed be in the state on Nov 26th. Called on that day and they told me it was held up for quality control. But only after I called them.... they couldn't be bothered to call me (Don't type the words running through your mind!) Anyways got a deposit down on this one and it actually showed up.

Same here! For anyone else interested in the Icon AAL pack, I had this issue also - I ended up with only about 1” of lift in the rear instead of the advertised 1.5”. I added a 1/2” block, but will be swapping it out for a 1” block next week because I’d like a little bit of rake back.

I’m wishing I would have went with the Headstrong AAL or another AAL, but at least I got a good deal on the Icon AAL and it rides nice.

    My OEM+ 2023 Sport

I owned a 2009 AC TRDOR for years and foolishly traded it in for a WRX. I find myself back in this awesome 2023 DCSB Sport for which I was able to get for a great deal. The lack of features for the price brought me right back to my last one (seriously, nearly $40K and I had to install a locking tailgate??)

Rather than getting too silly, I plan on working on improving the truck function while maintaining an OEM look and keeping fuel economy manageable. It’s my daily but I take it up into the mountain fire roads/trails for camping, biking etc. I also try to ski a fair bit.

I’ve redone the rear lights with the MESO kit, mounted Baja Design fogs, bed lights, OEM Trail grille

To get it ready for ski season PPF and underbody spray just got done, and I just mounted a set of winter tires on a lightly used set of TRD Pro wheels.

Next up? Sliders in lieu of the stupid steps, WildPeak ATs, summer wheels(?) and a hidden winch. Ever since being a kid all I’ve wanted is a truck with a winch and NVGs Time to work on that list!

    Any other suggestions?
Also anyone here have a good setup for transporting skis? I was considering crossbars in the bed to keep the skis off the bed mat and give me some space.

Happy to answer questions, appreciate you letting me share my ride!

    Greetings All!

I'm new to this forum as I've recently purchased my first Taco (to be honest, it's my first truck in general - odd for a Texan perhaps!?). In full confession mode, I've been happy driving a stock '98 bmw 3 series for 230k miles and +20 years until it was declared a total loss in an accident. So I took some time to do some research on my next vehicle and decided to try a new Toyota Tacoma.

The must haves were: 4x4 option and lunar rock.

Months went by of casually scouring the local inventory at a couple of dealerships. No luck. Thinking this color was going to be discontinued in a few months I had to get serious. When one would appear in the listings as a 'build phase' there always seemed to be a buyer. After a few phone calls to three dealers and different salesman, I stumbled across an ambitious, new salesman who said he would find one for me. It still had to be built and shipped, but I got the phone call 4 weeks after clearing the credit check. I don't regret it at all!! Wonderful truck so far!!

The minor changes that I've done to it was:
    1. Removal of the locking storage and ice chest in the bed (trying to sell them for $275 on craigslist for the pair).
    2. Installation of cat shields that were purchased from Amazon. Easy to do just by sliding under the truck.
    3. Installation of a tail gate lock, wheel locking lugs and the third bed rail (also from amazon).
    On my to-do list:
    1. Add a bass speaker with box and amplifier (I have a non-JBL system). A low profile one that would not require me to cut any of the plastic interior panels behind the seats.
    2. Led lights that would provide brighter light at night. Would like to just swap out the bulbs.
    3. Look for bicycle kit that can secure two bicycles in the bed.
    4. Maybe some seat covers for sweat protection of 50 plus days/year of +100F Texas heat.
I hope I didn't ramble on too long.

    Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

You mentioned LED I assume headlights? I couldn't find any Lunar Rocks with factory LED headlights here in Florida or any Southeast Toyota, state/dealership. So check Gulf Toyota States and found exactly what I wanted at a Louisiana Dealership. Hopped on a plane flew to it and drove it back. I guess my point is LED's are awesome. I had a 2015 SR5 Pre-runner and headligts only gave me what seemed like 75 feet of yellow light at night, these bad boys are like stadium lighting!
