For those who have kids, my 6yo son says the hottest video game this Christmas is called “Tacoma Configurator”

Once you get to Off Road level, add a basic item you want. The price goes up, but you also lose something. Go up another level and add back in what you lost, and…price goes up again, on to the next tier. You win if you can equip a TRDOR with exactly what you want for under 50k. Advanced version (60k+) arrives next spring with hybrid.

It'd be awesome if Toyota actually listed the features in the packages accurately when playing with the configurator though.

 

OK, kind of a lame question, but in all seriousness, how is Toyota's "Premium" JBL audio?

 

You mean “and more” isn’t clear on what it gives you!

Not great, not terrible. For 90% of the people out there it will sound good. For the rest they will say how much it sucks compared to XX vehicle they had 20 years ago or the system found in a Bentley.

 

I'm not sure what my '09 TRD Offroad has in it, but it sounds like a bag of ass and the head unit is absolute shit (by any standards).

 

My truck has without a doubt the worst sound system I've ever had. I'm no audiophile, but holy shit entire ranges are inaudible at times. I'd take the speakers from some of my past econoboxes or work trucks over whatever garbage that is masquerading as speakers in my truck.

Hopefully the base audio is much improved for the new trucks.

 

I really like my '23 third gen with the v6. Just the redesign was why I pulled the trigger on a new one.

But...a manual turbo 4 cylinder taco that makes turbo noises and decent power, that would be pretty fun. I love the sound of a turbo!

 

You have the NON JBL system correct? If so then yeah it does suck and the JBL will be night and day to someone who is not an audiophile.

You see this - this is Hi-Fi. Okay? High Fidelity. You know what that means? That means this is the highest quality fidelity. Hi-Fi. Those are two very important things to have in a stereo system.

 

I have a JBL , no issues with mine . Nothing touches jeep for sound though...too bad it's a jeep lol

 

I have the JBL in mine. It's okay but nothing special.

 

Buy the latest Jeep, take the sound system out, and sell the rest for scrap.

 

The Mark Levinson system in the GX I'm getting is very impressive. But enough about me...

Thought my stock SR sounded pretty good. Went through my audiophile phase years ago, after getting several systems stolen, windows broken, dashes and interior pieces destroyed. Don’t care that much anymore, finding myself not even turning it on much either.

 

Fair point. I rarely turn my radio on. It's just a bunch of jibjab, commercials, and half-assed (at best) modern "music".

 

Everything has its fanatics for sure.
