Mine came with a round piece of adhesive that was placed over the keyhole to keep out any contaminants. I have not touched it since I put it on a year ago. Something to check later.

Kinda a rule with lock cylinders that live outside is not to use any liquid/spray/wet "lube/penetrating oil" since it is sticky/tacky causing problems with fine particulate dirt in the future.
Look for any type of Graphite lube at your fav hardware store, it's messy and works excellently.
I have been using https://www.drislide.com/collections/lubricants on Thule lock cores since the late 80s in NH and still works perfectly. I use it on all my outside lock cores on padlocks, trailer hitch locks etc., and even stuck cores, and within a few minutes of inserting the key in and out, the key turns the core.

I got one of those too. Mr Sabellco (didn't catch his real name) reached out yesterday afternoon. Spoke with him on the phone and discuss issue. It was a private conversion so I won't discuss details but I informed him of a few of the issues that were being reported. The problem I was having has been solved so I consider the matter closed.

That's something I considered when I was looking for something to free it up. I've got some spray graphite around here somewhere.

"'Nasty' is just sarcasm". "Some vendors do not give a flying f". You fly "off the handle" far too easily, and I would quickly leave any conversations with you involved.

Any lock will eventually seize up. I expect it might occur with mine, and knew the consequences of it seizing on my tailgate even before the purchase. christian06 makes one that does not seize on the tailgate ... you can even drill the head off the bolt that secures it if needed which is easier than drilling out the core of the lock on the SaBellCo.

In short, I plan for such eventualities. You need to plan for them in the future if you want success.

Who cares what he said there. It’s nothing useful.

“Lock doesn’t turn well. I ranted online about the problem. Then, WOW!, someone taught me Basic Stuck Lock 101 Day 1 techniques that freed it. Why didn’t daddy Freud teach me that?! Then I resisted talking about my feelings and talked about some guy’s prick getting smashed. Now I’m DMing you but in confidence.”

The OP thought he was making a PSA. Turns out the advice "locks sometimes seize up ... prepare for it" was the true lesson.

Regular maintenance with any locking or hinge mechanism exposed to the elements should be spraying them with some sort of rust inhibitor and lube. Fluid film works and you should be spraying your frame with it anyways

Wow missed a good thread, sorry for the delay got banned for 30 days for not being nice LOL.

Yea so not sure what was going on with the lock, hope the issue was resolved. best way to get me is send a text.

I like the graphite lube comment as it is a dry lube. Not sure but I have noticed the keys sometimes have a little burr from the factory but I can tell you I installed every lock into the lock body. My wife packs them up so I will ask her if she is sabotaging the locks, highly doubt it but it will be fun to ask.

Usually only turn one key though and sometimes have to insert and remove them a few times to clean up the burr from when the factory cuts the key. The main thing to remember is to push the key down when turning as the tumblers are spring loaded and need to be depressed to turn smoothly. The pin will only retract until it is flush with the lock body, if you want to remove the lock from the body you have to push it in with your thump or your extra strong pinkie, whatever works.

Hope this helps, glad I did not get some nasty text or emails..... you all are a rough crowd.... LOL

Glad we were able to get it worked out. Yes I was in San Berdoo Canyon with 0 cell service. Worked it out at In-n-Out while I was enjoying my double-double :)
