Only picture I could find of my 90' or 91' short bed deluxe 4WD with manual locking hubs, which were a pain if it was pouring down rain and you wanted 4WD

Hair and attire check out for early 90s. :D My '89 SR5 extra cab was my first truck in 1994 as a junior in HS.

ill take rain anytime over the time I went to get my friend out of the woods, and told my then GF to lock the hubs in at the trail head knowing the water and the snow were up the road, while I was peeing in the trees... got into some freezing cold water and got a bit stuck myself wondered why it seemed like it wasn't locking up in 4wd... GF never locked the hubs and that ice cold water wasn't my favorite to stick my hand into. her answer was "my dads truck you don't have to do that" girl had been off road so many times with me, and her dad her brothers. had no idea what I was asking when I told her to lock the hubs in.

oh as an adult, 100% a lesson learned. my 8yo when we once were driving up an old trail in the woods, asked if she could help lock the hubs in. so I've done decent with my daughter, but she was also disappointed that the Tacoma doesn't need me to get out and lock them in.

Not the best photo of it but thought I’d share a little update on my 3rd gen. My radio died a few months ago and I had a credit at blaupunkt so I purchased a new retro radio built I believe for a Mercedes or bmw. I got it and of course it didn’t fit so I took to dremelling and drilling some new holes in the existing mounting harness. It took some trial and error but I think it turned out pretty well and is solid. I purchased a blaupunkt to Toyota wiring harness which worked perfectly. It’s the closest to stock look that I could find and has blue tooth, and a lot of updates. It also can do any color. It certainly isn’t cheap but since I had the credit already. Here are the results:

Nice job, looks good. But man, those HVAC controls bring back a lot of memories. Edit, Oh and those Blaupunkt stereos were all the rage back when I was in high school. Very cool and desirable back then. Especially on the black market.

If we're doing old school stereos...

That's the original unit. It was inop in a box, but thankfully I didn't have to source it.

Sourced a refurb'd OE replacement unit. The HU, bezel and brackets are all unotanium.

Look like it belongs there all along. Thinking if doing the same for my OJ 55. I just don't feel that Pioneer. Not old school enough
