I would be curious how mine reads with the abuse it's seen. Probably not far off yours. I always thought it would be funny to throw some metal shavings into he sample to hear their feedback

Just some straight up iron filings in some oil out of my buddy's tractor might be worth the joke haha. I definitely drive the piss out of mine. The only number in that report that is even slightly concerning really is the lead because it can only be coming from the engine itself. Guess I'll pull a sample to send off now and we can learn more, basically at the exact same mileage again.

Because, I wanted a bigger one :anonymous:

This plan was set for 11 gauge (.125)

I scaled it up to fit 10 gauge (.134) with a tolerance of over two hundredths of an inch; don't do this unless your shit is dialed in

This is how clean and practically dross free everything came out (everything is right off the table)

The achieved tolerance for my slots

The parts are loose enough to fit together, but tight enough to interlock and hold

    A total run-time of 18 mins 11 seconds and 64 pierces :burp:

It holds itself up damn well; 95% assembled here with no welding (next to baby raptor)

For the life of me I don't get why they do that. My guess is their heads are just to heavy.

Do you rev to redline every shift, and do donuts and rock crawling, etc.? I’m just wondering if it’s ever been starved of oil somehow.

Is the 5VZ pan pretty well baffled for hard cornering and extreme angles?

I rev to the red line probably a ton more than most 5VZ owners. I actually raised my red line so as far as you're concerned I go over redline. But no I don't really do donuts or anything. I might occasionally slide around in the dirt but it's pretty infrequent and certainly not enough to generate enough G-Force to starve the oil pickup especially on an engine that takes 5 and 1/2 quarts. I don't believe this engine has ever been starved for oil it would be very hard to do. That said I've never tested this engine before and for all I know the previous owner never changed the oil. But I'm fairly confident they changed it regularly because when I did the valve cover gaskets the heads were sparkly clean. I'm just saying I don't have any baseline average before I turbocharged it so who knows maybe it's always been high content. Lead is really the only one that concerns me. But if I have to throw some bearings in it, it's just a weekend project. And I'll use ACL or King bearings for a bit extra protection going forward. But one of the bearings could have just gotten a wear scar in it on this oil change and that lead could be all gone on the next analysis. I am going to use different oil which won't reflect in the next test but it will in the one after that. I don't like that the viscosity was higher than labeled and stayed higher even after being run through a boosted engine.

I know being turbocharged and pushing the limits a little bit is going to shorten its life. If I take it from a 400,000 MI to a 275,000 MI engine that's fine by me, it's not a huge pain in the ass to rebuild one of these or get a spare one to rebuild. I'm just trying to get an idea of the time trajectory here. Which I won't know for sure until I disassemble it. But yes I am hard on my truck but I'm not reckless. I don't do things purposely to hurt the engine I just use it hard
