Why would you change the oil now if it's just getting dark, that's experience, that oil knows what to expect now

 

You know what, you're right

It is a leaker/burner so I have put a quart or so in over the last 1000 miles. That means 25pct of the oil is new so it's good to go

 

This is how I do the corolla now, it doesn't leak somehow, but it burns a lot. So I just occasionally toss a new filter on and add 2 quarts every 2mo or so. The car only takes like 4.2q and one time I had to add three, it was that low and showed zero signs of giving a fuck.

 

hahaha shit, I'm in a similar boat. I've been burning through all the random left over quarts of 5W30 I've had from doing oil changes for others but after that I think I'm gonna try some rotella and hope the detergents+binding additives unstick my rings a lil more

 

I'm afraid of what else might unstick on mine. It's on a diet of the cheapest Supertech 10w-40 only.

Uh oh that's actually a decent oil and an oil analysis showed SuperTech has more detergents than one of the big name brands (Mobil1?)

 

Well then next time I'm just going to dump in cans of Engine Restore rather than oil

surprisingly they have been a little better lately, but given how awful they were the first month of the season that isn't saying much. They are at the bottom of the standings but they're tied with Chicago now and only 1 point behind Ottawa. All of which are awful teams as well this year, so

I bet your Corolla would be happy with recycling the oil from the Tacoma into it.

I dumped a full quart of that in last time it was low, along with another quart of 10w-40, I will pretty much pour anything that resembles oil into it. Thinking I'll save the waste oil from the taco for it now too since I'm only running that to 3k and it's got lots of life left according to the test.
