the hype has faded. Guessing the 4G will too.

Assuming people hang to what they have longer, move to a different model or brand altogether. Dunno…we will see what the sales numbers are at the end of ‘24 will be, and if Toyota’s gamble paid off. Though people complained about lack of power, rough ride and low on tech for years. (I am not one of them) so they are going to have to pay for it if they want to stay loyal to the brand, or going to lesser trim level. Dunno, the SR5 with no packages has more than enough options for me.

I was able to configure a Z71 Colorado to about 46k that matched what I built for a 24 tacoma. Only thing I could see missing was the powered slider since it is a no go on GM trucks, but was still able to option a moonroof instead to offset that and come in 5k cheaper than the Toyota.

Toyota is gonna lose a lot of non brand loyal people like myself if they are not careful.

Just not hot on the SR5 wheels and basic suspension. Thinking id be swapping those out day one, so the $2500 up charge for the OR makes sense, which also incl the e-locker. Especially since I actually like the TRD OR wheels this time around.

But this is all by design, and Toyota isn’t going to make many base ORs.

As a base OR owner, this is sad. Toyota also stripped the base OR of functions so a base OR kinda sucks on the 4th gen anyways.

Good point but still seems like a lot of wasted money.

How’s a Gladiator compare price wise. Most here are so excited about the Tacomas 33’s and sway bar disconnect but the Gladiator is the real off road truck if that’s what’s important to you.

Looks like you can get a Rubicon gladiator with hard top and heated seats added for $57K. It says limited time offer of 15% below MSRP. That would be $8500 off. Maybe around $48K total? Sounds like a lot more truck for the money.

Hard to ignore other deals, and GM’s turbo 4 is arguably more tested than Toyota’s. It’s difficult to even build a Frontier over 50k. And the full-size market is definitely softening.

Gen4 added width at the fenders, has a longer wheelbase that affects turning radius, and greater curb weight. So it’s technically “bigger” than before, yet offers only incremental gains in cab space & capability. At 50-60k, might as well at least test drive a full-size truck that offers a lot more room & capability for the buck.

They’ve already made their bed. And they might as well release the hybrid prices at this point.

Gladiator is a non starter for me, so no idea. A Ranger Raptor is only like 3k more than a modestly to above average optioned TRD OR though...

For hybrid prices, you’ll have to call the Toyota hotline. They will verify that you are sitting down, and whisper MSRP’s to you. If you are a current Tacoma owner, a Toyota representative will be available onsite at your local dealership, in case you’d like someone to kick you in the groin.

Depends on perspective. Im waiting on the base offroad manual prices. If they are too wild I'll either grab a 2023 manual or wait until the industry collapses.

How close is anyone on this forum to getting a G4?

I guess that's the next milestone.

The ones built the day after St. Patty's day are the best, they say.
