I think it’s great for Purdy that the media thinks he’s not the one responsible for running the offense so well we’ll have 4 players with over 1000 yds from scrimmage. Stay humble and keep ballin. MVP is roadkill on the way to the real prize.

That qb hit should have been a flag for landing body on Browning.

    NFC-WC
Given the number of teams ~.500 I think it simply boils down which teams can play above that level and win 2 of 3 and do it against the right opponents. 1 WC is taken, don’t know who yet but for the remaining 2…
    At 7-7
The Vikings play Lions, Packers, Lions.
The Rams play Saints, Giants, Niners
The Seahawks play Titans, Steelers, Cardinals
The Saints play Rams, Buccaneers, Falcons.
    At 6-8
The Packers play Panthers, Vikings, Bears
    The Falcons (who’s kidding who?)
Seattle has the best shot to win out and get a spot, that would leave one spot left.
Nick Mullens might win 2 but it might be the last two if Detroit rests starters.
Matt Stafford I trust to win 2.
I don’t trust Derrick Carr that much but the Saints could win 2 even after losing the first.
The Packers have to jump not just one or two but 3 of these teams. Because of head to head either the Rams or Saints will have at least one win but GB beat both and have that tie break but will still need to have one more win than the winner to tie plus have the Vikings drop to move on. After Seattle, GB might have the best shot to win out.

I think it’s the Seahawks and Rams. Seahawks because as you said, they have the best chance to win out. If Rams beat the Saints they might win out as the 49ers might be sitting starters week 18 (almost a lock if they beat the Ravens this week). If the Saints beat the Rams and the Ravens win, I say it’s the Seahawks and Saints. Of course the Saints could still win the south so you have to throw the Bucs into the WC equation.

AFC wild card is crazy, 7 teams within 1 game of each other battling for 3 spots (Bills or Dolphins, 3 North teams, 2 South teams, and Denver). Denver is at the bottom but has the best schedule ahead. I still think there will be at least 1, and more likely 2 teams missing out that have a 10-7 record while the NFC sends 2 or possibly 3 teams at 9-8.

The tie break between Saints-Bucks is currently a 1-game difference in the division and a head to head loss. Bucs play Jags next week and finish against the Panthers. Any way you look at it, one of them will probably need 2 wins to make the playoffs so their game might both determine the division winner and knock the loser completely out. Falcons are only 1-game back and have a split with the Bucs and a win against the Saints so week 18 could be for the division. Yet again, 2 wins to get there.

You wrote this about the Eagles after their previous loss. Apparently it was a really rough scrimmage, ha!

Happy for Drew Lock getting to be the hero for one game. Smith-Njigba's catch in the end zone was unbelievable. That was Doug Baldwin-esqe right there and makes him the star of the game. The interception by Love to seal the win was another beautiful catch. Joe Buck sooo wanted it to not be a catch that he was actually speechless for a moment when the replay showed the toe touch & foot down confirming it was going to stand & game over.

I'm going to savor the win. Seahawks aren't going anywhere this year but on this night, they got their poop in a group & pulled off an unexpected victory. I'm sure the Eagles will bounce back, but Jalen sure hasn't looked like Jalen the past three games. They might be in trouble? Something is definitely off with their team mojo. Only thing still working is the "tush push".

I think luck ran into schedule and schedule won. Then luck packed it in when Jalen got sick and the game was still up for grabs and got grabbed. Jalens face looked kinda slack the whole game and pg interview. They’re in the playoffs already but need to play with conviction instead of bravado. Not saying they aren’t as good as they think they are, just that they aren’t playing at that level. They’ve been saying it but the puddings been pretty thin lately.
    Edit- Seahawks are always dangerous.

Moving on. Who can learn more this week, Lamar or Brock. If it’s a Super Bowl preview, who is more likely to win a rematch?

Interesting question. FYI - Purdy already has twice the post season wins as Lamar (2-1 vs 1-3). I’d have to say it’s the ‘lesser’ team that has more to learn as you would expect them to be able to close the gap as they both learn. So the 49ers being the best team out there, whoever they play has the most to learn and the opportunity to play them closer next time, and maybe win.

I guess it depends on where the gaps are and what can be done to close them. Lamar is tough so can we limit him enough and make it hard to consistently move the ball. Can the Ravens stop the niners on the ground and confuse Brock in the secondary? It ends up being the same for both but by different means. Being in essence a rookie Brock may have more room for some improvement but more for acquired experience. It would be silly to put a cap on what can be done by a gifted athlete like Lamar. With any luck we will get to see it play out twice.

49ers vs Ravens in week 16 feels like a potential superbowl preview. Lamar's legs are always the 'wild card' in these games. I think both teams will get a chance to see how they match up and can then adjust should they play again @ the end of the year.

San Francisco FEELS like the more complete team at the moment but it should be a fun game to watch. Ravens had a lot of injuries in the Jags game, which makes me skeptical of their chances.

Of course, I thought SF vs Cowboys was going to be titanic death match of two greats & Frisco made that look like a Varsity vs. Jr. Varsity affair. And yet, San Fran has shown they can be beat and they aren't perfect. I guess this is why we actually play the games. On any given Sunday, crazy things can happen.

As Russell Wilson used to say, Go Hawks! (Making the playoffs would be a win for them this season.)

So ‘Niners fans, who do you fear most in the NFC playoffs … Eagles, Cowboys, Lions? How about the Rams? They are on a 5-1 streak with just that OT loss in Baltimore. Back in Week 2 they played you close, actually outdoing you in first downs, total yards, and time of possession. The 2-0 turnover margin was likely the difference. I would still put money on the 49ers to win the Superbowl no doubt, just saying your biggest threat may not be the obvious big 3.

If Dallas or Philly dont come back swinging for the fence this week, from these two losses, they are both off the map in my opinion.

I still have faith in the Boys but this week will either cement that or put me preparing for another year of failing miserably in the playoffs

    Every
The team is different now. All 3 losses those teams are on different qb’s now but even so have the defenses to still be in the thick of things. Rams look to have turned a corner but is it enough? I dislike hypotheticals but I could easily see us beating the Saints by 3 td’s even if the oddsmakers aren’t likely to go that high. I guess the answer to your question is no, at this point I don’t fear any NFC teams, mainly because no defense is intimidating. I respect certain QB’s though. I like to think we’re more capable than most at sustaining drives which should give us the edge against the Ravens but it’s not proven yet.
