The problem is, large pistol and large rifle primers are still $0.10 a piece. In the good ol days, I didn't even set up the press unless I was going to do at least 2000. Today, that volume of primers alone is a $250 expenditure, without even factoring in the rest of the ingredients. I got an " in stock" email for Varget last week..... $284 for 8 lb jug. I'll keep working from my supply of surplus pulldown jugs until I just can't, I guess

Got my PSA Mico Dagger C-1 in. It is the Micro Dagger with intergrated comp on it, making it the G48 size. Here it compares to my G19 with Dagger slide on it. It is a good bit thinner and lighter.

I’m putting it together for approximately.25 per round +|_ depending on the load. I can’t believe how expensive heavy revolver ammo got. I’m going to try to take over my Dad’s casting hobby this summer. I grew up doing it with him. I should have started years ago. That should bring the cost down down considerably.

I’ve been waiting for MKC to come out with a S90V in like the speedgoat, Blackfoot or similar.

I’m an avid backpack hunter, and haven’t found anything to replace my discontinued Benchmade altitude with yet.

Around here 50 rd boxes are $65-$75 a box. I don’t shoot my 44 mag much anymore. I broke my right wrist a few years back and I can’t take more than 15 or 20 rounds of that beast anymore.

My dad casts, but he's retired. I'm not retired, and my current billable rate is way more than what I'd pay myself to sit in the garage melting lead and pouring it into little holes for hours and hours.

If you're casting your own bullets to achieve that fantastic $0.25/rd 44 mag cost, it's not completely accurate since labor is never free....

Hell, even Berry's plated 429 projectiles are $0.15 cents each now. Quality FMJ are $0.30.

Powder is 1.2 cents per grain on the low end, an average 44mag load is 20-30 grains.

Reloading does save some $$, but as these numbers show, it's not a "bargain" like it used to be when stuff was plentiful. I.E. Russian primers and bulk quantities of pulled projectiles......

Out of curiosity, what’s wrong with their brass?

After post #30263, if you’re willing to shoot Russian primers and pulled bullets, I would imagine don’t really need a specific quality brass, as long as it holds primers and the case doesn’t crack.

    I certainly do.

Ask anyone about a specific primer brand and model, and you’ll have a handful of shooters that have had particular issues with it with nothing but anecdotal evidence.

That said, I asked you a question, and here you are pointing fingers yelling “troll..”

I never really found a significant difference between primers for the sort of shooting I do, except that Winchester and Wolf slides into my priming tool the easiest. Wolf primers are great!

Were your pulls the 173g military ones? I remember my dad reloading tons of them.

    S&B primer pockets suck azz.

Wolf and Tula (Murom) primers were great.

Nothing wrong with pulled bullets or pulldown powder.

    Reloading 35 years, nothing anecdotal.

    Yes, you're a troll.
